This guide will explain the type of content found on PlanetPhillip.
The site’s content is focused on single player combat maps and mods for the Half-Life series of FPS games. It also contains my commentary on gaming and ideas for gameplay and other game related topics, interviews with mod makers, mod stories, weekly poll questions, walkthroughs etc.
The site has the best collection of single player first person shooter maps and mods for Half-Life 1 and 2, Episode 1 and 2, Blue Shift, Opposing Force. These games are actively updated when new maps or mods are released.
This category contains posts that really could be called Phillip’s Blog. It contains Interviews, Mod Story Ideas, Real Themes and other articles.
Every week I add a poll question that hopefully sparks some interesting discussion.
Whilst not exactly content, the forum does contain interesting discussions about gaming topics. Why not visit and join in the chat?
Modwalls are a way to present maps and mods in a simple image wall. Each image is a link to the respective map or mod.
Hover over each to view a tool tip that displays the map or mod name, game and publication date. The images are in chronological order, with the most recent at the top.
Some images have a purple icon in the bottom right corner, this shows you that this particular map or mod is one of my favourites.
In November 2007 I completely reevaluated my motivation for running the website. It became clear that I was spending a lot of time adding mods for games I was not interested in. I therefore decided to do three things:
- 1: Remove a significant amount of maps and mods . A lot of these entries were almost empty anyway and contained no useful information except the title!
- 2: To keep the games that I had an excellent collection of maps and mods for. These games are considered Archived. This means I no longer update those games with new maps or mods but I keep them for reference only. I
- 3: To put all my effort into Half-Life games. This means better coverage of the SP gaming world and more detailed entries for each map or mod.
