Poll Question 279 – What is your favourite gameplay style

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

Sometimes it’s easy to miss the obvious questions. In fact, I am very surprised I haven’t asked this before. If I have then I must have missed it when I looked through the Poll Question List view.

We all know what we like but do we really know what others like?

Of course, a good mod should include aspects of all of the choices but there’s no denying we probably prefer one style more than another.

Which one do you prefer?

Apartment – Half-Life 2: Ep2

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

You seemed to be trapped in your apartment and Civil Protection are on the way up.

You need to escape and get to relative safety.

That is, if you can remember the secret escape you planned.

Good Luck!

Audio Interview with Sam Combs

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

I got the chance to chat with Sam today. Sam is the author of Station 51 and A Brief Detour, he’s also made other maps for other games.

But let’s be honest we only care about SP for Source!

Sam has some of some of his portfolio over at Carbon-Made and is currently working at GameLoft.

We talk about game and level design, modding and a bunch of other stuff.

I mention that Station 51 is top of the Readers’ Recommendations for Ep2 and Sam mentions the 7 Day FPS Challenge.

Anyway, Sam may drop by, so if you have any questions you want to ask him, please post them in the comments.

Poll Question 278 – Which season do you do most of your gaming?

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

Even though I’m not a student I get a lot of free time in the summer. I suppose I spend more time gaming in the summer than in the winter.

I actually prefer playing in the winter, I’ve said this before, but I feel less guilty staying inside when it’s raining than when it’s sunny.

What about you?

Half-Life: Black Mesa Inbound

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

8:47am is the start of Half-Life. We don’t know the year or month, but with “a topside temperature of 93 degrees” it’s likely to be summer.

The tram ride introudces the player to the extensive world they are about to explore. As the CombineOverwiki says the “intricate workings of the Black Mesa Research Facility revealing themselves as being fragile, and more often than not, broken.”, shows that even secret bases don’t always work as planned.

The voice and screen text add just enough information to ensure you know what’s going on but without distracting you from looking around.

The ride finally ends with the tram stopping and your being let out by a security guard…“Morning Doctor Freeman, looks like you are running late”.

Poll Question 277 – How closely do you follow “In Development” mods?

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

I am disappointed that I don’t have time to update the Around the Community posts.

It’s always nice to have a round up of the latest news about mods that interest you, especially if there is intelligent discussion associated with it.

I am thinking about various ways I could do something like this and I keep coming back to the idea of a monthly video round up.
