Not a great map and as you can see I had a number of errors when I played. The environment is a little sparse and that spoils the overall impression.

Heh, he obviously forgot to include the models with the map.

Architecture: Rather basic and bland, not a lot of detail but interesting in some parts.
Layout: The layout is well planned but not fitting with the HL2 theme, I spent the first two or three minutes of game play wondering around looking for the HEV suit, after that I had to cheat because I couldn’t find any weapons after looking for about five minutes.
Lighting: Lighting is pretty standard for a large outside map, indoor lighting was pretty bland however.
Atmosphere: There wasn’t really an atmosphere to speak of, big open area, few zombies, go for it. At first (while looking for the suit and weapons) it did feel a bit like 28 days later but this quickly fades.
Difficulty: It wouldn’t be too hard to an experienced gamer IF you can find the first weapon. After that it’s pretty simple, your toughest challenge is a poison zombie backed up by two fast zombies in an open area.
Other notes: The ending of this level could have been done better. [Spoiler!] You fall into a pit of water and a bit of text comes up, presumably saying “game over” but because I don’t speak the language it’s written in I couldn’t tell. I had to resort to Noclip to check if there was any more level as there is no fade and the text only comes up for a moment. Other than that the level is pretty boring, if you love zombie fights you will probably like this but Zombies in HL2 aren’t to my tastes. Also the level has an array of missing custom models and once again a little play testing could have gone a long way.

To The Author re-release this map as a directors cut with the single-player mod cummunity to give you support to fine-tune the original map into a masterpiece & also re-release it as a multi-player map because its a very open-spaced map that works very well.
This is a curiousity piece of mapping & with due time on a second release will cure the shortcommings

Apparently, the errors people have are from it being an Episode 2 map and not a HL2 one (put it in Episode 2 instead).

remembering playing this one except those errors it wasn’t that bad…

Okay, I’ll recategorize it this weekend and take some new screenshots.
I don’t think it will be finished.

Aw… and I wanted to point out the reason first!! Actually, it works in HL2:Ep1 too!
There’s not a lot of indication that says that this map is still in progress or that it will have a second part, aside from an extra node graph that may or may not be accidentally included in the rar, so I’ll assume it’s complete as stands.
Although I appreciated the challenge of being trapped in a world of enemies armed with basically nothing at the beginning, this feeling was actually superficial as I found the crowbar later on and it became much like all experiences I have between melee and purposefully dumbed AI. This is one of those maps that may take you a short while initially, but takes less than two minutes to complete once you know where everything is.
For instance, a challenge that required you to use nothing but nearby physics objects to kill the nearby attacking enemies (which works on headcrabs), would be a reasonable challenge, but at the second bout, you know just to ignore the headcrabs completely. You don’t even need the suit. However, this is unnecessary griping. Although I like the idea mentioned above, the level design was not very detailed or challenging. Eh…
2 out of (whatever this scoreboard is out of)

I’ve updated the post to reflect the re-categorization of the mod to Episode 2. I’ve also replaced the old screenshots and added another 12.
I don’t remember see a dead Alyx when I played the first time,, which admittedly was months ago. Strange.

It’s all a bit basic in design layout and content and at first I thought nothing in the way of gameplay, however there is some sense to it all and after you find the crowbar you can play through as the author intended. Once you are geared-up this becomes a 5 minute map with the ending promising more, bytheway the suit is easy to miss.
I guess this is yet another part 1 of something that what be finished, however I dont think we are missing much.

I can’t really add anything usefull that hasn’t been said already so I’ll just leave it at that.

I know its a small map, but needs maybe a pistol, and a easier to find weapon. it took my awhile to finally find the crowbar.
23 February 2010 at 2:42 am
After wandering around for several minutes without a weapon, I gave myself the crowbar. (I mean, I found a supply crate, I have to be able to open it, don’t I?) After another few minutes, I found the “real” crowbar and started over.
The fast zombies seemed confused. Actually, when I started over, all the enemies acted confused. I got some .357 ammo but never found the gun. Thankfully, I found the SMG.
After dropping into the water at the end, I had google translate the text, since I wasn’t sure whether I was finished. It said, “To be continued”.
