You begin in a tunnel that starts to collapse, “Run!” shouts Alyx, as she sprints ahead of you. Phew, you seemed to have made it out alive, but Alyx is nowhere to be seen.
This map is apparently based on the Black Forest in Germany. As you might have noticed from the tags it’s still in beta and this map is part of a larger mod.

[...] Black Forest (beta) [...]

13th November 2010
The only reason I haven’t given this a “play it” recommendation is because it’s quite short. It still needs some work too. The visual markers are still in place for the cannister at the beginning.
The forest area is pretty well done and the area inside the drain section (not really shown in the screenshots) is okay.
The fast zombies are too obvious and a little light would have been better than complete darkness.
The finish is obviously missing as it’s a beta map but the map and its author show promise. I would have preferred to play the final map and unless you absolutely MUST play something, I suggest you wait – not because this is bad but because it should be much better when it’s longer.

As part of a bigger map it’s five minutes of fun, I have to agree with Phillip that playing the finished map would have been better.
As for being based on the Black Forest in Germany, I don’t think so; there was not a single Gateau anywhere to be seen. I liked the tripwire which I think you can go around, but I went through it to see what happened. I can remember the laser trip mines; however I can’t recall anyone using a tripwire before (although I haven’t played every single mod).
The complete darkness toward the end could have done with some light, although I think flare’s rather than ceiling or wall lights would be a more realistic light source in that situation.
I think it’s worth playing to get an idea of what to expect from the final version, which I’m already looking forward to.

I think you’ll find tripwires in the Ravenholm mod. Of course, the tripwires is supposed to be used against the zombies so…

As I said I haven’t played every single mod, but if it’s in the Ravenholm mod, then it’s still a rarely used idea.

Nice bit of scenery at the start. The rest of it degenerates into a ‘bash the Zombies on the head’ map. It’s a short map, thankfully, and there aren’t many Zombies.
If the next half has some decent Combine combat, I’ll be delighted to revise my opinion and RI.

This is what i don’t likke of betas and demos, and even teasers, they are so UNFINISHED, i mean i don’t even saw alyx running anywhere at all!”!, what i miss??, i don’t know, the player walikng like a turtle is a really pain in the butt detail and i didn’t like that at all!!, so play this only if u love killing zombies without a shootgun and if u are a real fan.
