what about moddb. that pretty much is everything your looking for

Moddb is a fantastic place to advertise and promote your mod (So is PlanetPhillip if it's SP!) but I'm not just talking about a site, I'm talking about all the people to do the work. Writing the press releases in a way that encourages readers to WANT to learn more about you mod, create exccelent screenshots (And if you think taking a good screenshot is easy, I disagree), making videos etc. People who make maps and models and write code are not necessarily good at those things. Some might be but not all.

interesting.

Thanks.

A number of game development houses like Valve encourage modders and provide venues for publicity. Maybe they could sponsor some sites as mods extend the life of their games.

Yes, but providing a site and a bit of news is easy. What I am suggesting is getting the PEOPLE with the marketing skill together.

I enjoy trying to promote mods and find it interesting to create new and interesting ways to do that. There are other people like me, people who enjoy designing websites, people who enjoy writing. If somebody could bring thoe people together to work together to promote the mods that deserve more attention that would be cool.

Sure, moddb can provide webspace but who designs the site and writes to copy? People who are probably not that interested in doing it.

Although any really talented modders probably already have a good idea of what channels to go through to find work.

It's not related to modders finding work. It's related to getting the best publicity for mods already in production.

I like it. Anything to make the good mods easier to find would benefit both the Modders themselves and also the Gamers, as well as any needy game producers looking for starving talent. Although any really talented modders probably already have a good idea of what channels to go through to find work.
