Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

A fairly simple design where you are supporting the Combine soldiers defending, what seems to be a pointless base, from Antlions.

  1. Phillip says Avoid It!

I didn’t particularly enjoy playing this map but then these types of maps don’t really interest me.

    Avoid It!

The map isn’t very interesting. It’s clearly a first attempt at a horde style map. Seems more of an experimentation map rather than something that should be publicly available. With that said though it is interesting to watch your allies fall back on the bunkered position. I rather enjoy watching A.I. fight things out; so if you are interested in cause and effect situations this might be for you. I also dislike maps that “don’t end” I like to reach some sort of goal… even an implemented timer would have been interesting. The reason for such a low mark is because the map ended up crashing on me 3 mins in.

  3. Think Twice

The map does end; it’s just abrupt and seems to have little to do with your actions whatsoever…

I ended up hiding in an area that the antlions had trouble getting to in the bunker, occasionally collecting weapons and ammo from nearby dead combine for the realization that a finite number of anything will never beat an infinite onslaught of antlions. I heard the sound of a combine gunship flying, and then the map ended suddenly.

The map was short and (if not for the time limit) impossible to beat, but I can still appreciate that the author got Breen to actually talk at the beginning.

Interesting note : This could be one of those maps in which you could die, yet still win (by the map ending)…

  4. Maybe?

This wasn’t too bad, actually, except for the abrupt end.

At first I didn’t see the ladder (dur) so stayed where I started so I could be close to the shotgun ammo refills. When I finally saw the ladder I went down to join in the fun. Before long, I was back in the bunker because I was the only one left alive (besides all the antlions). Then the dropship came and the map ended. So it was fun-ish the way I played.
