A collection of audio interviews with developers and modders.
Today I managed to spend some time with Yves Richard AKA Richman, the author of Hazardous Course 2 amongst others and we chatted about the mod and its difficulty etc.
We also talked about the kind of Half-Life players left around and the problems of mapping for Source.
Yves said he would drop by, so if you have any questions, please feel free to post them as comments and hopefully he can answer them.
I’ve probably posted more of Miigga’s maps on PP than anybody else.
Well, I finally managed to arrange an interview with him and here it is.
We chat about his mapping, his maps, his map names and even why there seem to be so many mappers from Finland!
Hope you enjoy it.
If you have any questions of your own, please post them as comments and hopefully he will be able to answer them for you.
27th March 2012
I sat down with Tero a few days ago and we recorded this fairly impromptu interview.
We talk about his most recent release, Last Zombie and then move onto his previous release Water.
Apologies for my constant “uming” and “ering” and for Tero’s mic noise.
I hope you enjoy the interview.
23rd February 2012
Just a few hours after the release of Daylight I was lucky enough to sit down and chat with Jim Partridge – its author.
We chat about his modding history, his blogs and of course the mod.
In fact, we go into quite a lot of detail about each main section.
I hope you enjoy the interview.
17th December 2011
Got a chance to sit down and have a short chat with the author of Random 17, which was his first mod!
We chat about the mod’s production and a few other things.
Ed sad he would monitor the comments and answer any questions you have.
10th December 2011
I was fortunate to get in contact with CosmicD, the maker of The Core for a chat.
He’s not shy and once you get him started he just keeps going. Which is great, because you get to hear his views and ideas on a number of music/mod related topics.
We start in typical English fashion by talking about the weather! Stay tuned though because we do get to modding!
He makes mention of an update to The Core and I am happy to present 2 exclusive images from the new room that is being added to the mod.
Please forgive the seemingly abrupt ending, it really did end like that.
16th October 2011
I was lucky enough to sit down and chat with Magnar Jenssen, the author of, amongst other things, Whoopservatory and Mission Improbable
We chat about how he got into level design and the industry, his mods, his process, the difference between making mods and retail games, plus a bunch of other things.
Magnar has agreed to follow this post, so if you have questions that I didn’t ask, he may be able to answer them for you.
Enjoy!
8th August 2011
I was lucky enough to have a chat with Patrick Murphy, the maker of Precursor, a highly-rated new single player mod for Episode Two. It’s one of my longer interviews and we talk about a number of things but really focus on the mod itself and various aspect of it.
Patrick has agreed to stop by and respond to any comments, so feel free to ask him your own questions.
4th April 2011
I was lucky enough to sit down and chat with Erik, the joint maker of The Sprucescape Mappack. We chat about its inception and possible sequel.
This interview was conducted within the Citadel.
28th February 2011
I managed to sit down with Ludvig Kallin, the maker of Call In for Half-Life 2: Episode Two and chat about its development.
Enjoy!
13th February 2011
Leon has been a mapping machine in the last 5 years or so and I sat down with him to chat about his last Source project called Final Project diary
Enjoy!
14th November 2010
I sat down and chatted with Christopher Dollard, the author of Gamma Energy and you can hear the whole thing below.
We chat about a number of different things and I challenge him on why those last two chambers are so freaking hard!
Enjoy.
22nd August 2010
I was lucky enough to get the Gear team online and chatted with them.
We talk about the City 17 Episode 1, its evolution, Maxsi Distribution System and a whole lot more.
7th December 2009
I had the opportunity to have a chat with Brian Roycewicz AKA Tundra_Cool, the author of provenance.
We chatted for just over 30 minutes and covered a number of topics.
In fact, there is exclusive news about Provenance 2!
18th September 2009
We chat about the mod’s creation, its development and its bad points, along with some other topics. At just over 33 minutes there’s plenty of joking round in addition to some serious discussion.
This interview was recorded over 4 separate Skype calls and as such you may notice the editing. I also would like to apologze for some of the background sounds. I didn’t realize how sensitive my microphone is!
29th August 2009
I was lucky enough to chat with Ross and we started with Ross’ background, moved onto the mod’s development and finished with climate change!
4th May 2009
Here is a short chat with Aleksandar Ivanov. The audio quality for this interview is not very goo and I apologize, something went wrong with my soundcard/driver installation. I spent at least two hours working with the various files and using different applications to get the interview listenable, nearly drove me crazy!
Enjoy
