Installation Instructions

These two maps come with an executable installer. All you need to do is ensure the path to the Episode 1 map folder is correct.

Important Note

Not matter what I did the second level never loaded for me so I had to load it manually. To do this open the console and type map svos2 and press enter. You will also need get the HEV suit and some weapons. Being lazy I just opened the console again and typed impulse 101.

  • Restart or start Steam.
  • Run Half-Life 2: Episode 1.
  • Open the console and type kbridwel_overwatch.bsp.
  • Press return/enter and play.
Important Installation Notes

I’m never particularly happy when mods come with exe files unless they absolutely have to. This one installed perfectly but it also added a readme.txt file in the maps folder that contains the following:

“IMPORTANT NOTE:

For this mod to work correctly, altered model files for the NPC Dog must be included in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\\half-life 2 episode one\episodic\models

Be advised that THIS WILL AFFECT THE DOG MODEL IN ALL OF HALF LIFE 2 EPISODE ONE, so please remember to remove these files before playing any other level or mod. A list of the altered Dog files are as follows:”

I believe that the player should be advised BEFORE any installation begins. How often do people read the readme.txt file?
It should also be noted the there is an automatic uninstaller, which is nice.

Story

You play the role of one of thousands of citizens who gave their lives on the day of the 7 hour war, the day the Combine brought the world to its knees in a mere 7 hours. Each hour from this historic tale will be available in Chapter format. Chapter 1 is available for download, Chapters 2-7 will be released when they are completed. My focus for Chapter 2 will be to tell the backstory with choreographed scenes made in Faceposer, so there will be no gameplay in Chapter 2. I will be looking for voice actors to lend me a hand in the audio department within the coming months.

Author’s Note

“My goal for this project was to create a fun, challenging full length single player episode based inside of the Half-Life universe. Highlights from this episode include diverse, challenging, and creative scripted combat sequences, intuitive puzzles, realistic architecture, HDR lighting, and a climatic musical score. Strategic areaportal, hint/skip, and occluder placement allow for this episode to run smoothly on any machine that meets HL2’s minimum system requirements. In terms of artistic direction my aim was to stay true to the style that Half-Life has come to be known for, while still maintaining a degree of originality. Specific colour palettes have been used to seperate areas and to help instill a sense of mood in the environment.”

IMPORTANT AUTHOR’S NOTE

“I have decided to release a little alpha version of Night Terror to the Half-Life community.

I would like to give the standard “this map is a heavy WIP” insurance sepal to cover my ass… no just kidding. But yes this map is not finished, there are still spaces that need to be designed (this is roughly 30%-50% of “map” if you know what I mean). All the features that I am especially excited that will make this map ‘unique’ are not implemented, sound design is horribly unfinished and I need to redesign some of the spaces, particular the interior spaces, and gameplay is just rough, and no, Zombies and Headcrabs will not be the only thing you fight as you venture deep inside the facility.”

Storyline

You have been assigned on a mission to rescue some battered civilians that fled inside the abandon Lucas Heights Northern Petroleum facility before night fall. The facility is surrounded in monster infested forest. The whole region, including the upper Hexam Highway, the Salt Pan Lake and the railway line used for freight transportation is closed and is dangerous particularly at night time.

Military supplies are tight as securing Hexam City is our first priority, if you get yourself into trouble, you won’t be getting support any time soon. Get yourself inside the facility and meet up with the civilians asap before it’s too late.

Remember, the facility has been abandon for 23 years now, we don’t know what it is like inside. Keep your eyes peeled and ready yourself for possible enemy encounters inside the facility. Good luck.

This is a pre-alpha release and as such there are many things that are not right. The reason for the release is for players to highlight those errors, not complain they exisit. If you don’t like unfinished work don’t play this mod. If you do play it please try and provide useful feedback to help the author improve the final release.

Important Note

These maps can be used with Half-Life 2, Episode One or Episode Two. I have used the HL2 icon on the header images simply because I felt the install base is larger.

The file also contains four variations of the same map: Day, Night, Snow and Christmas.

Permission has been obtained from the author to host this file.

Installation Instructions
  • Copy bsp files into your Maps folder of the game of your choice.
  • Copy weapon_annabelle.txt file into the root folder of the game of your choice.
  • Launch your chosen game
  • Open the console and type map d4_assasinatdoc_v2.
  • Press enter/return or click the Submit button.
  • Play and Enjoy.

“You start out in what you only know as home, a Combine Prison deep underground in the mountains of Western Europe. Your goal is to escape and meet with your brother to help him in the battle for humanity and against the many alien races Gordon is sure to encounter in his journey. Once you escape from the cell, there is no turning back. You will wind through the tunnels of the heavily fortified Combine Prison, making your way to the outer areas where you can plan your escape. Set in a cold, snow covered environment, you’ll be faced with many choices, but be sure to choose your path wisely, and you could find yourself two steps closer to freedom. To summarize, you need to survive, and to survive you need to get out, fast!”
