Thanks to a few dedicated PP readers I can finally release this mod. Originally it was an illegal stand alone version but it has now been packaged as a mod.

- Copy the Chernobyl Mod folder into your Half-Life folder. (It should have a Valve folder in there).
- Restart or start Steam.
- Chernobyl should now be listed in your Library tab.
This mod was made for an old version of Half-Life. As such, the game is buggy at the very start (you are stuck on a bus and can’t move). To get around this cheats are already enabled( I hope), so type noclip in the console. I’m trying to fix it but without the original files I’m not sure I can. Andyb

To get this working on my system I had to create a save point, enable cheats and then enter Noclip. I have included two save points in the hope they will help some users. You don’t miss any of the action.
- Copy the Chernobyl Mod folder into your Half-Life folder. (It should have a Valve folder in there).
- Run as you would do any mod.

well, I got that one from Russia (i live in Israel, but i speak Russian) and it’s really not something. The labyrinth is a pain in the ass when you can’t find some sort of stupid vent the idea is great but needs A LOT of work.

Yes, it`s a realy poor mod, I played at it and I wouldn`t recommend to buy it.

Don’t waste money on this! This mod has poor mapping and bad gameplay, there’s free mods that’s a hundred times better then this one, so just avoid it!

OKay, here’s an update. Originally the mod was released as a stand alone package, that means it doesn’t require HL installed because it already includes it. Clearly I don’t want to be seen to be distributing illegal copies of HL (Even though I doubt Valve have even heard of PP – If somebody from Valve is reading this: How about a little support!).
One of my faithful and helpful readers has extracted the new content but I can’t seem to get it to run as a mod yet. I just sent an email and I’m sure he willl reply as soon as he can.
In the meantime can somebody explain how I turn a map folder, a few .wad files and a Titles.txt into a working Steam mod?

It’s not very good. Boring environments, frustrating to-ing and fro-ing, and then eventually you press a button and die. If you godmode your way past that glitch, then you have to fight off an absolute swarm of grunts whilst going back the way you came. A lot of work has gone into this but the end product is not really worth struggling with I’m afraid.

Like Retribution or HL: Dark Territory this is a mod that shows simply one thing.
That the makers had no clue how to make a game and their ambitions excelled

I had to delete or rename CL_DLLS/GameUI.dll to play it.
Please note that Chernobyl, in 1.WAD/root1/x.bmp, contains the same pornographic poster that Dark Territory does in drkterritory.wad/root/poster_xxx.bmp. In the game it’s a poster in a restroom stall. A warning would be appropriate.
This is one of the few mods for which I recommend binding “sv_maxspeed 600,” “noclip,” and ‘r_fullbright 0[1]‘ to handy keys in your config file, to improve your gaming experience.

I have not played this mod and reading all the above comments I’m not going too. I normally would agree that comments such as ‘Bad, realy bad’ are not much help but in this case all the previous post have said much the same, just taken longer to say it.

Read all the above and I want to see for myself. But it won’t run = It appears in “my games” but it gets as far as the Hallf Life intro screen and that’s it – no New game \ Load game \ Options etc menu.
Windows task master reports it as “not responding” and I can only close it by the “end now” command.
Have tried uninstall\reinstall – still the same-

What version of HL are you using?It sounds like a hanging dll.Have you tried renaming the CL_DLLSGameUI.dll
as Gilfrarry has done?

My HL version is whatever Steam has uodated it to???
I am not sure about the dll file – Delete and rename ??
If I delete it, how can I rename it?

Go to the Properties button for this game and type at the end “-dev -console” (without the quotes) and this way it will skip the intro and maybe you will see the main menu in the game.

It’s in the cl_dlls folder. Just rename it like any other file so the game can’t find it and use it. That worked for me.

OK! So I’m guessing that if it can’t find it, then a new on is built – is that it?
Anyway, I just tried renaming it “old” and it made not a ha’porth of difference.
This is getting interesting – nearly as good as playing the games

Just noticed that above I’m Anon. so I ‘m logged in now.
Retried all this again – and it appears to have worked! so I must have done something wrong the first tme.
In the folder cl_dlls was file GameUI.dll which I renamed .old – That’s correct – Yes?
But what have I done?? I think further reading is required for me – Any suggestions?

Well, just tried playing this and after getting stuck on the bus I used one of the included savepoints.
Is one of the “bugs” with this mod that you can walk through walls and floors and fly through ceilings so that you have to guess where you are supposed to be????
Or have I cocked up again?

Check and see if noclip was left on.It may of been left on after using it to get unstuck from the bus.Type sv_cheats 1 in the console then reload a save then type noclip in console and see if it goes off or on.

andyb — followed your instructions and you were correct – noclip turned off now and my ablility to pass through solids is no more. Smashing!
I wish I knew more about all this stuff – sv_cheats & noclip etc. is all greek to me.
Is there a tutorial, or some other reading, somewhere I can look at? There must be!! in this age of t’internet.

sv_cheats 1 allowed developers to use built in codes to help during the building process.Everygame has them.

I haven’t even started this mod. The reason I’m giving it such a low rating is because I can’t even move around anywhere. I’m in front of a yellow bus (I assume that is what it is) and I seem to be stuck there. Can’t do anything other than look around. Very buggy.
