[...] Combine Insurrection Demo (HL2) [...]

Sorry, but this is terrible. It’s also very old, so I don’t believe it will be finished. And that’s good.
5 Words Or Less Review
Don’t waste your time.

Phillip – In spite of your comments I want to give it a try, but the link for the download appears broken – it doesn’t take me anywhere.
I tried downloading from the authors site, but whilst it seemed to install correctly, it didn’t work.
All very bad omens for this mod, should I persist?

Phil, No you shouldn’t persist. I have corrected the link, sorry about that. However, if you do, maybe it needs Ep1 or soemthing. Do you have Ep1? Did it install into the correct folder? Other than that I’m not sure what else to suggest.

It’s strickly HL2 acording to the game info file.
23rd April 2009
That’s what I thought, but I couldn’t think of anything else to suggest.

This is worth 3 stars. Level design is bad and boring but there is a goodly amount of game play which I thoroughly enjoyed. There is not a lot of life but there is lots of ammo.
Do not avoid it! It is worth a play rather than twiddling your thumbs with nothing else to do.

buggy.

Could upload it.
Installation came a bit garbled, managed to get all parts and buid a file.
Got HL, ep1, ep2…
No start.
Well, let’s the next one

Phillip, yes, you were right, this is terrible!! The only thing I got out of this is “The world IS realy flat, and you can fall off the edge!!

“Level design is bad and boring but there is a goodly amount of game play which I thoroughly enjoyed.”
Well, sure, because Valve made a fundamentally enjoyable game.
I don’t think that should necessarily salvage such a terrible mod.

Keep in mind that this is a demo of some alpha, or was it beta?, maps. take a look at their mod db page for updates and such, their new maps are starting to look better.
I woudl suggest to wait on judging it just yet.

hello everyone, I am the major contributor behind CI. Was googling a bit and found this (like to keep up to date with the mod propagation). But anyway, I see that some of you have issues installing CI. This is probably because valve changed the steam directory from #\Program Files\Steam to #\Program Files\Valve.If you installed it into the correct location (as above: #\Program Files\Valve\Steam\steamapps\source mods) then it should be working. This alpha demo only uses HL2.
This demo is by no means complete, or ever intended to be. I was throwing out some basic ideas and seeing how the players reacted to them, it was never intended to show off the maps.
I am aware of the bugs and attempted to fix some of them (like the fire trap MRE) but was unsuccessful or packaged the wrong maps with the demo.
Head over to our mod db page for updated screen shots of these maps, they still arnt done, but they are a bit more detailed then the ones presented in the demo.

It was okay. Something to do, as Jasper said.
I could not touch the possible button thing at screenshot 13 (it’s “pushable” both outside the wall–where you’re not supposed to be–and inside). The game crashed on me every single time.
Some of the “doors” weren’t obvious. At the door in screenshot 17, I thought I was supposed to exit in a different place.
And at the end, I wasn’t really sure who I was supposed to be shooting.
What was with all the zombies??? I thought it was called “Combine Insurrection”. Whatever, not my vision.
