   Well, my game/map making experience is VERY limted. But I do find FPS Creator very easy to use and it can produce a stand alone level.

   You need to think of me as more of an editor than producer. NONE of the maps listed here are made by me. I just collect them.

   It would appear (both from the Mapper’s website and from the content) that Half-Life 2 SP Fallout and Half-Life 2 SP Fallout - Area 21 are the same map. I think the Mapper just renamed the file.

   This site has all half-lifem ods i knew existed and more the only one it didnt have was “A Day in the Life of a Coward.”

   What’s with all these foreign people knowing about all this American made stuff when WE don’t even know some of it. Anyway the button that says “cepbep1″ means download link one.

   Now, i am an extreme half-lfie modder. (I have more than 200 mods.) And i use PlanetPhillip more then any other site and followed closely by the one above jsut because the layout of the site is simple, easy to understand, friendly people, and finally its in ENGLISH.

   Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see the ‘Mistake of Pythagoras’ HL2 mod here. It’s a SP SciFi mod so I think it fits your genre. The link is:

   Phillip, I just wanna thank you for this site… it’s been a great source of cool and unknown mods.

   I understand that this site is focused on SP mods and mapas…. but, what about SP models??

   Last year I found on the web (I cannot remember the name of the website) some models of the playstation2 version of Half-Life that had been ported to the PC version. Those models are quite hi-poly (more than the ones that came with the B-S: HDP) and look really nice in-game.

   Some players would appreciate these models, let me know if you’re interested in getting them.

    I may start a new category depending on the number of models available.

    These files (.rar) are just another type of compression software. You need an application to open them. Something like winrar or 7zip should work perfectly. hth

    Yes, this site is completely and uttlery created and moderated by me (Phillip). I’ll try to keep up the good work.

    The first game that comes to mind when asked for recommendations (Beside HL1 and 2!) is Chaser. Depending on where you live you should be able to find it very cheap ATM, try ebay as well.

    Another I really like was Elite Force, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Opossing Force and Blue Shift. I don’t know any RPG because I’ve never played them.

    Oh, just remembered System Shock 2 but they can be hard to find.

    You get half a prize. The reason you only get half is because I have the file I just haven’t made a post about it. You have a choice; you can have the left or right half on a blank CD.

    LOL! Unfortunately I have some bad news…the matching other half of the CD was won by a Half-Life playing hermit somewhere in the Mongolian plains. I’ve already posted it but can supply the address you you wish to try and make a trade with him.

    Commpletely Off Topic: What do you call a female Hermit? Is there a proper word for one. Are men the only gender who go off into the mountains or plains? Damn! I won’t sleep until I know the answer!

    EDIT/ Hermit can be used for male or female.

    I agree with you about Chaser. It is much underrated. This is just a note to tell you that I got it from hoots-loot on eBay for $2.99 and I believe that they have more copies available if anyone is interested. There is a delivery charge of course, but I ‘amortized’ that by getting a few more bargain games from their large selection at the same time.

    Esteemed Mr Phillip,

    I know you are a sucker for constructive criticism… I couldn’t help noticing that you’ve removed the start page that was up for a while (perhaps in response to my comment on the fact that it did not reflect the dynamic nature of the site

    However, the trouble now is, that posts rapidly get pushed off the page as you update frequently (yay!) and each post tends to be quite long…

    Please take a look at http://www.aldaily.com/ (the other site I visit on a daily basis and arguably (sorry) the best site on the net). It updates daily but manages to preserve its post history nicely by presenting short teasers for each article it links to. O.K, so it’s more of a linkdump site than PP and I’ve no idea how easy/difficult it would be to make a sort of “click here to read more” feature in wordpress, but I thought I’d refer you to it for consideration/inspiration.

    Thank you for your suggestion.

    Firstly allow me to point you in the direction of two possible solutions. The first is the Latest Posts page. This contains a simple title (Also a link) and date posted list of the last 100 posts. Secondly the Archives page. This contains a complete list of EVERY post ever made. (Beware it may take a long time to load!).

    Now, there’s a chance that these solutions are not what you are looking for. Perhaps the title is not enough to pique your interest. Well, adding the Read More link is not very difficult at all but it still leave the Post Details visible, which to my mind is a little untidy.

    There is a last option called Excerpts this is also very easy to configure but requires a little work to get looking good. I need to edit the last few posts to ensure the first image is not lost. I will do that this weekend and gauge my reader’s response.

    It will also mean that more than 12 posts will be visible. Lastly, if you have managed to stay awake this long!, I actually used to have the Excerpts working but removed them. I think because it can make some short posts difficult to manage.

    Hey Phillip, I found this really cool mod for doom 2…

    This cool mod replaces all the enemies and weapons in doom for the ones in half life. You can also run it with doom tnt or the plutonia experiment. This mod runs best on engine enhancements such as zdoom, I prefer to use jdoom which can be downloaded for free at http://www.doomsdayhq.com. To get an idea of what this mod is like, you can watch the video I created and uploaded to youtube

    I added Prey a long time ago. I will be adding a Prey section to the Single Player Maps and Mods category once something is released.

    i did only look for it in the Single Player Maps and Mods category, that’s why i didn’t see a Prey section, (the links that you gave now do give a 404 error, but it’s also explained why this happens, so no problem at all). i haven’t stopped mapping after the release of the Coastline to Atmosphere HL2 sp-Mod, i just didn’t make any comments about it because they where more a project of learning how to map with new games. in the last 2 months i have made 2 new sp-maps, one Cod2 sp-map and one Prey sp-map. there both now nearly done, the Cod2 sp-map needs only to be looked over for some minor bugs and the Prey sp-map is done for 98%. in fact am i building the last area for a huge fight with a end Boss. in 2 days i will release both, when this happens i will let you know.

    I understand your desire to collect all the files but unfortunately I can’t do what you want me to. The files are held on Filecloud servers and even I don’t have FTP access!

    I’ll contact them to see if there is a solution. The one point I would like to make is that I don’t want you uploading them to another file distribution website.

    Although I can’t stop anybody if that’s what they want to do because the files don’t belong to me. But FC has been very helpful for the SP community. It did a LOT more than FileFront were ever able to do regarding uploading my collection and I feel it deserves some kind of thank you. In this case it’s visit and page hits.

    I’ll contact you via email if I have any solution.

    I’m only interested in hoarding them on my hard drive with all the rest of the things I have.

    I really like FileFront compared to a lot of other distribution sites, such as FilePlanet (yuck!)

    Also, is it a possibility that you could make some kind of “release date” page for unreleased games? or haven’t I looked hard enough?

    I do too. I originally started to upload ALL my files to FF. The problem was that when I started (probably over a year ago) the upload system was REALLY bad and I often had to start again. The real problem was that I would have to upload over 25Gb of files indiviually via a browser and that was unrealistic.

    I accept that FF is the best (No disrespect intended to Filecloud). But FC copied my files via FTP and it only took a few days to get everything organised.

    Regarding the “release Date” page. It’s a good idea but I have too much to do with the released mods! I could probably quit my job and work for 6 months full-time on the site and still not finish the task list I have!

    Another problem is that the release dates are so rarely kept that I wonder how much use it would be.

    As you may know I have stopped adding “in-dev” mods and maps but I may start a simple list of links to those maps and mods.

    Phillip, the file name EFBMbetademo.zip (Escape from Black Mesa Beta Demo) on FileCloud has a corrupt file in the zip! The file name is HalfLife.wad. I found this out after 2 downloads from 2 different servers and got the same message! Too bad, I’ve been waiting for this one! Thought you’d like to know!

    Okay, I’ve done a local comparison and my MD5 Hash was different. I have recmopressed the file into a .rar and am uploading now.

    Once I compare the MD5 hash of my new local copy and the Filecloud I will post the new link.

    Phillip, I’ve tried logging into filecloud to d/l some mods but, it tells me my username/password do not match. I inadvertantly tried to create a new acct thinking it was different than the membership for your site & it told me that my username & password was already in use. I would be a B-lister but, it’s better than being nothing. Any ideas?

    It wasn,t your username AND pass it was either user OR pass.Filecloud has nothing to do with PP besides him hosting files there.Just ask them to send you your password again,and hope you remember the username.I just went through this myself today.

    andyb’s right the membership system on PP and Filecloud are completely separate from each other, so you will need to create a new one for Filecloud.

    It actually brings up and interesting point. I will see if it is possible to somehow get FC to automatically setup new accounts using the PP details. Stay tuned!

    hi Phillip, i just bought the game Boilingpoint (Road to Hell) and was interested if you already played this fps. it’s already a year old and was therefore cheaper, 19.95 euros. i read about it that when it was released it was so full of bugs that it was just sad. but now it should be worth playing it, after you install also the 2.0 patch for it. have played it for 2 minutes, just to see if it works. have to go to bed now, have played all evening another new game, a race game called DTM3.
    seems that Boilingpoint promise a whole new fps experience. it’s a bit like Far Cry, you have about 450 km2 as a island to look, drive and fly around on and you have to compleat ofcourse missions, but you also have to sleep, eat, buy this stuff, make phonecalls, investecate all kinds of people, to much to tell right now and here, but it sounds realy cool. it sounds as a new experience. when you haven’t played it then i will place a new comment tomorrow about how it playes.

    Hi Phillip, I have a file in my HL folder called am it appears to contain folders for a HL1 game called Arrange Mode. The read me file is in Spainish but I mnanged to install and game is listed in my HL1 custom menu but will not load. I have scanned both your HL1 and 2 files and can not find any reference to mod, if infact it is a mod. Do you know of such a mod called Arrange Mode? are you interested?

    Arrange mode is not a game or nod. It’s a utility to work/make mods better or something like that. Here is a link that will show you some of its modifications.
