Contributing Content Guide

Introduction

Although PlanetPhillip is my website, that doesn’t mean you can’t contribute. There’s always things that need doing and improving. Below are a few ways you can help. If you prefer there’s always the option of some of your hard-earned cash. See the footer for the current donation drive.

Reader Reviews

The more well-written and balanced reviews on the site, the more useful it becomes. Why not take time to play a mod that has been on you wish list and write your thoughts about it? Keep it clean and to the point and post it as a comment on the respective mod. Couldn’t be easier, could it?

Walkthroughs

Everybody needs a little help sometimes. Be the person to help somebody. Give detailed instructions, along with a few carefully chosen screenshots and email them to me for formatting. There will be a lost soul somewhere who will thank you.

Screenshots

A picture tells a thousand words, or so they say. Whilst screenshots don’t tell you everything, a map or mod without them is like a picnic without ants. Wait, that doesn’t sound right. Anyway, you get what I mean!

Videos

If a picture tells a thousand words, then a video must be a million. Provide short, interesting gameplay videos of the maps or mods featured here is a great way to help the site have more content. Why see the videos I currently have on You Tube to see the style I like.

New Mods and Maps

I regularly miss map and mod releases. I can’t be everywhere at once. Don’t hesitate to email me with a polite reprimand.

The Challenge!

Dare you face The Challenge?

Competition Prizes

Do you have any old games you no longer play and would be willing to send them to a lucky PlanetPhillip reader? If so, please contact me and we can discuss an appropriate competition.

Submitting images for panoramic movie creation

If anybody wants to help create these movies all you need to do is send me images from one position in a mod. Normally you require around 40 to make the balance between quality and size good.

You will also need to remove the HUD and the weapon from view otherwise it doesn’t work very well. There is an excellent guide here:
How To Take Screenshots In Source Games.

You will need to take a screenshot from every conceivable direction, including the floor and sky. Once you have done that compress them into one file and email them to me, along with the mod’s name and I’ll do the rest!

Alliances

I am very proactive when it comes to seeking out alliances with other sites or individuals. However, I’m always open to suggestions as to how we can work together to improve PlanetPhillip (And your site as well!). Just send an email with your ideas and I promise to reply quickly.

That’s It!

What, not enough ways to contribute? Well, if you have any other ideas just make a comment on this post and I’ll reply.
