Installation Instructions
  • Copy effect_map.bsp into your Half-Life 2 Maps folder.
  • Launch Half-Life 2
  • Open the console and type map effect_map.
  • Press enter/return or click the Submit button.
  • Play and Enjoy.

    Phillip says Avoid It!

    Allow me to explain my Recommendation Image. It’s not because this is a really bad map because it’s not. It’s just very specialized. More for mappers than anybody else.

    I debated with myself whether to add it but it had combat and was using HL2 assets, so it fits the criteria.

    Unless you are interested in the effects used in HL2 then I suggest you avoid this map.

    Rain, Smoke, particles, lasers, stuff.

    I think there should be a source file (vmf) for this map. Otherwise it is pointless to play this. Even for a mapper. You know, HalfLife2 has those effects too :)

    Well i guess u should try it out at least to learn and visualize some of the basic effects hat may occur in the game… i think its interesting….

    Why didn’t anybody use the FEEDBACK to tell me the chrono lists were down. I didn’t know! Back up now though.

    i haven’t played this map, because for me it has no use to play it i asume. i watched all screens carefully and came to that conclusion. as a mapper myself it not interesting to see a smoke stack of a wall colapsing.
    maybe it is for a non mapper, although even then i am not sure of this is fun or not.,
    what i do think is that its badly made in the way of the textures that are being used. from time to time you see maps like this that do use that orange dev texture. and why they do so, its a real mistery to me. because, it was never intended to use in game mode, (not that this is a reason to not do so). but, it s not nice to look at at all.

    personaly i think this map shouldn’t be released as a map to play, it would be perfect to place in some mappers forum as a tutorial.

    still, i aplause to every mapping effort.
    but personaly this one isn’t something that i would play.
