I’me not entirely sure how far I played of this demo but I stopped when I got stuck for the second time. It’s not the prettiest HL1 mod you will find and at times it’s a little boring but overall it’s not bad. Not as good as the recently released Operation Nova but this author has gone for a different style of mod.
The first time I got stuck was in an elevator shaft and had to noclip. The second was where the fire alarm went off.
The voice acting needs to be technically improved because I could hardly hear what was being said and it was also spoken too fast.
Unless the author provides save points throughout the mod to save me having to start again, I’m afraid to say I won’t be playing the full release.

Nice, but really buggy of the classic sort : in the elevators.

This started off very very promising, but before too long you get the whole room after room of very very similar stuff, and the combat is virtually the same all the way through. The enemies’ damage to you is cranked right up, which is okay if you’ve got chance to recover or there are enough healthkits around or chargers etc…which there aren’t. Having said all that clearly an awful lot of work & thought has gone into the project, and aren’t the actual graphics nicely crisp & sharp?
I too had absolutely no idea how to get out of the elevator shaft, and thought it might have been an OppFor moment to grab the electric cable, doh! There probably is a way out withuot “noclip” but I’m with Philip on this and gave in to temptation….Some puzzles need a bigger clue I think!
The author clearly has a bit of a sense of humour in the way some of the original dialogue has been reused, and there are other nice touches here & there….but, and I’m sorry about the “but”…cut it down, please cut it right down. This is only a demo, but it’s bigger than many maps & mods released as whole finished products.
It doesn’t really benefit from being huge for the sake of it. Work for work’s sake doesn’t make that work outstanding, it just means there’s more of the same…
As for it being “Half-Life Episode 2″ while it might have set off upon that track, it really is stretching the point a bit to say it is even closely related. The original is several classes above, which in some ways is a shame as the concept (of a direct continuation) is one that most of us will have (whether we knew it or not!) have been waiting for….. Notwithstanding “canon” and al the many mods that have tried before……
Still I still give it a “Play it now” as I think you should. Who knows, you’re opinion might be wildly different than mine…

i have to sai that this mod is really good it has a a bit of a mix of diferent types of games and its a good combanation its true that the elevator shaft part is hard but you have that back pack that lets you long jump so use it the action is good and it has its creepy moments i should say i suggested some of them . overhall its a defenit “play it now” mod and don`t forget its still just a demo so you should only expect something great from hunk guerrius and his game
by theway if you see any speling mistakes screw them because im portuguese and i dont spell that good
ps: hey hunk heres my coment now make the next mod of the year

Finished it. Final thoughts – Eh.
The melding of Half-Life and FEAR doesn’t really work as well as the author wants it to. The average HL player will shoot at anything that isn’t blue or white, so the various events that occur don’t scare us, they just make us waste our ammo. Plus the demo ends right when it’s getting good – a good example of leaving people wanting more, but in this case, a tad frustrating as well.
It’s not a bad mod, but it’s not great either. I’ll wait for the full version before a final conclusion, and suggest others do the same.
Final note – in the elevator, you DO climb the cable. I’ll say no more then that.

I have played this mod and I quite liked it. I know this mod is not finished but what I played was fun and I could easily dip into it. Sure its a bit rough around the edges in the visual department and its lacking in some things but I feel this mod has potential and its heading in the right direction.
Lets not forget, this mod is being made by one person in his spare time, its not really like he has a whole team of designers, artists and programmers at his disposel. And for the amount of experience he has, he is on par or is exceeding the expectations I would have.
What I suggest to Hunk: Keep doing what your doing until you get to the end, than go back and polish this thing up, add ambient sound, cool triggers, detail and depth to the world etc. You want to make sure the player will have a fun and consistant experience. The visuals come second. Good stuff

It’s the end. If you backtrack past the dead security guard, to a doorway with a speaker beside it and flashing lights inside, you’ll see a message that the demo is over.
