Navigating Guide

Introduction

This page will explain how to navigating around the site. It assumes a basic level of competence regarding computer usage.

Header

Along the very top of every page is the header menu. It contains links to the most visited pages on the site.

It also contains the search bar. Type your search term here and press return/enter and the results will be displayed.

Below thse is the main logo, which links back to the index page and to the right of this is the Daily Image. Clicking this image will take you to the Forum thread with the complete collection of daily images.

Under the image is a collection of links that will display all the maps and mods for the respective game. More games are covered by the site and these are the most important ones.

Main section of the Index page

Here you will see the 6 most recent posts. Most post have a header image. If the post is a map or mod you will notice the relevant game logo on the left. It will also display a short introduction about the map or mod. If it’s not a map or mod it may have a header image depending on the category. Clicking the title or header images will take you to the full post.

The Footer

This area should be considered the main navigation area because it contain links to everything. It is split into section and each section should be self explanatory. I will not be detailing each section here and new visitors should visit the Site Help Center for more details about each section.

Some Concepts Explained

The site uses two main organization concepts. The first is called categories. Each page is categorized into one category (Some may have more but that’s quite rare). These categories generally separate the games from other content.

The second concept is called tags. A tag is a keyword that is only associated with maps and mods and help describe the type of content within the map or mod.

For more information please visit the Content Guide and the Tag Guide.

Searching

As well as being able to find content through the categories and tags a user can of course search. There are two types of search available, normal and advanced.

For more information please visit the Search Guide.

Dated Archives

A list of all post can be found in chronological order on the Dated Archives page. Please note that the dates related to when a map or mod was published NOT when it was originally released.

Highest Rated Maps and Mods

If you are looking for the best Half-Life 1 and 2 maps and mods then finding them is very easy.
