A beta release, where you need to escape from a prison surrounded by ice and snow.
- I am unclear whether this release is part of the Detroit Mod. The author seems to be connected with it in some way. Can anybody provide some more information about it?
- I am sure this release contains a LOT of material that is not needed. Since I am not technically profcient with regard to modding I didn’t know what I could or couldn’t remove. It seems a very large file for such a short mod. If anybody can help remove the files please contact me and we can reduce the file size. Thank you.

Putting aside the file size for a moment, this “little” mod has some interesting areas. The first area you encounter gave my system a lot of trouble and I thought that if the problems continued I would have to stop playing. Fortunately things improved but I probably had trouble in the best part of the mod.
Of course, it’s a beta and that makes it obvious that as players we can’t be too hard on it.
Overall I quite enjoyed some sections and you should play it at some point in your week, just don’t drop whatever you are doing to play it.

Looks interesting. Too much light for a Nova Prospekt setting though.

Unable to change weapons

I think having a map compiled with at least a few lights is a must, even for a beta of any kind. The way lights and shadows define how a level looks is important not only for the fact itself of being visually pleasing, but for other purposes such as navigation and combat. Is the absolute absence of light something intentional in this map?

Too bright to be Nova Prospekt, along with poor looking graphic’s.. Not really my liking’s..

Phillip, man, you need to play Half-Life 2 Deathmatch. If you did, you’d notice that this level copies the dm_lockdown map verbatim, and then grafts on some hideous new areas.
This shouldn’t even count. Is that all it takes to get a “Play it Later” recommendation these days?

Yeah this map is a huge fake. All the author did was open up dm_lockdown in source sdk (the source of the map is provided by valve in the sdk) and edit it. Not even well i might add.
There was no lighting pass run, and probably no vvis run either, which would explain the bad performance for phillip.
Yeah this is definitely a Avoid It.
And I agree with Kyouryuu, what passes for “Good Maps” these days is ridiculous.

I’ve got no health status display, no weapon display, can’t change weapons, don’t know how much ammo I’ve got, following squad may or may not obey commands and may or may shoot at the enemy – enough!
There’s so many errors I think my download must be corrupt. And it is a shame ‘cos it looks interesting.

Well, I had another go at it – (can’t give in) — I’ve killed all the combine, turrets and manhacks, and I’ve reached outside where the box of rockets is up on a platform——–
Now what? is that the end? Anybody got further on than this? Have I missed something?

It’s a beta and it shows. It is important to us HL players to get the HEV suit as soon as we have more than one weapon so that we can change weapons.
With the suit I might have enjoyed it. No suit, no enjoyment. We can but hope that the authors read our comments.

I strongly recommend that you don’t play this one, to copy a couple of descriptive words unfairly used to review another mod, this one is both a mess and ugly.
The mixture of textures, lighting and block structures coupled with poorly designed and staged incidental content, all combine to produce one continues eyesore. The mess is complete with the overlay of mass enemy pointlessly arranged in gangs, which are too over bearing for the available ammo.
I played through on god mode just for the sake of determining whether it was all bad, it is. None of the levels load automatically and you need to load through the console and then assign yourself weapons. The technical boys will have a field day with is one and rightly so, although I doubt that few we bother wasting their time.
I also doubt that this will ever be reworked into an acceptable and worth playing state, just too many faults and the whole mod is flawed from conception.
I am trying to say something positive, so if you enjoy pointless gameplay set amidst hideous surroundings then all I can say is, go fill your boots with this one

I totally agree with Mel….DON”T PLAY IT ! I don’t care if it was a Deathmatch map ” rip off ” or not, it’s simply ‘appalling’ ..

I’m sorry but these maps are absolutely terrible. Bad texturing, brushwork, and all fullbright! D:

fullbright… *urks*
that fact alone would kill a good rating for this mod. and then it´s a shameless rip… no way to go, dudes!

Horrible, no redeeming features I can pick out. Perhaps if it was possible to change weapons, see what health was there (had the suit) it might have had its moments.
Take a pass.
