Sci- Fi Single Player First Person Shooter Games Half Life 2 Doom 3 Far Cry Unreal UT2004 Quake Mods
Update

12 March 2006: I’ve finally found and uploaded the beta maps and they are now available for you to download.. Thanks go to Adam for publically releasing them.

About

Parallax was a set of Half-Life maps that were under production by Adam Foster. There was no published release date and few other details. Sixteen or so all-new single-player maps portraying the Black Mesa Research Facility disaster from the point of view of another scientist were planned. There was also a story connected with the levels but I can’t find any working links to it!

Adam Foster has recieved a lot of positive publicity regarding his first Half-Life 2 release called: Metastasis.

PlanetPhillip Note

I’ve collected all the images I could find and added them below. This one looked really good, it’s a pity it was discarded! If anybody has any information regarding this mod please email me.

  1. Wow. This really does look nice. Pity..

  2. Adam did release a small 2-map beta pack from Parallax just last year. It was short, but a fun time. I’ve sent Phillip an email with some more info, hopefully he’ll update this post soon.

  3. I’ve recieved the email and now have the file. One small problem is that the read me is very specific about the file not being made public, so I would rather recieve personal permission before I post a link to it.

Unfortunately I don’t seem to have much luck contacting Adam. So if anybody can contact him for me it will be greatly appreciated.

  4. Ah, Parallax. I used to wait for Adam to release this one, it looked so promising at the time – and still looks good to me.

Hope that he gives the go for file to be made public – it would be great to play this one, even in it’s unfinished form and smalled down scale.

  5. I had someone remind me about this again – I’ve been really busy over the weekend (second episode of MINERVA is imminent!) but I’ll try and have a look through my map backups again soon. Apologies for the delay – but since I started Parallax back in the summer of 1999, percentage-wise I’m not too slow… ;-)

All I need from you is your permission to publish the small release you made. However, perhaps this is a candidate for Half-Life: Resurrection?

  7. Yes, you can certainly publish the old mini-beta-release – feel free to add something to the README to indicate that it is a valid distribution.

I’ll probably upload all my old RMFs somewhere soon anyway, as they aren’t really doing anything as they are…

    Adam

  8. Thank you. Now all I have to do is remember the filename and where I put it.

Before you upload your old RMFs would you be kind enough to contact me because I have an idea I would like to discuss with you.

To all my readers, as soon as I can I will post a link to the file.

    TIA

  9. wait… this was finished he just didnt upload it anywhere

See comment 5. I don’t know why he used “Cargo Cult” as his name but the comment is from Adam. I am uploading the file to my server as I type this comment. The link will be working very soon.

  11. someone said this was finished

Well it seems that “someone” was wrong.

  13. This is the same version of Parallax that has been hidden on the http://hylobatidae.org/minerva/ site for quite a while.

I’ve converted the original splash screen to be compatible with Steam, you can download it here:
    http://www.ihud.com/file.php?file=120306/1142163781/parallax.zip
or perhaps Phillip you would like to add this to the download options above?

  14. Can someone help me? I’m stuck. I’ve gained access to the long ladder that goes up to the large freight elevator. I go up the ladder around the elevator to a set of two doors that lead to a room with two large doors at each end with a couple of large storage crates. I can proceed no further as neither door will open and I can’t go back through the small doors as they now will not open.

  15. @jallo

Maybe you noticed that the Parallax mappack only consists of two maps… and you reached the end.

  16. Thanks Red Slug. Your probably right. I was just observing the screenshots and had not been to the trainyards pictured so assumed I was missing something somewhere. Fun while it lasted.

  17. Play It Now!

Only 2 missions, but in the screen is train and i don`t go there…

  18. Play It Later

    because it’s unfinished

    so cool

  19. Maybe?

OK as far as it went part 1 of an unfinished game
