“Mankind found an entrance to XEN world and an investigation team met with the uncanny aliens in there world. Then, mankind succeeded in becoming allies with them. Later, a scientist team built a joint laboratory in the world of XEN. But, something bad was approaching…”
This is released as Version 2 Beta. I don’t know what is different from the original Peaces Like Us because I haven’t played it. I am assuming it’s just an updated version and I certainly hope the original author either knows about it or is involved.

screenshots look like the original, loved this mod the first time can’t wait to play it again

Yes, I also enjoyed the mod first time around. Such a long time now since I played through the game that I am sure it will seem like new anyway.

Version 2.0 makes the mod more steam friendly, (It’s Splash screen and HUD) the downside of this mod is that the hud is now in Japanese and you can’t read out what your ammo/health/armor is, also you have some anime character staring back at you the entire adventure. But the very sexy splash screen makes all this up. some level improvements where made and some bugs with some levels are now fixed.
My Recommendation:
If you really haven’t played this mod yet in it’s early state for the WON or original half life version now is a good time to give this is a try.. if you don’t mind that your hud can sometimes become useless. But if your a vet HL player, you know how much ammo all the guns take and how many hits you can take.

I liked the first part of this mod, but the ghost and spinning scenes do nothing for me. Had to noclip from time to time. Despite my dislikes, it was a fine effort on his part.

The level design looks awesome.

Most of the main game was exactly the same as V1. The main differences I could find were the Splash screen, The HUD and I believe that Peaces V1 did not have it’s own Training Course level.I still enjoyed it. Still good after all these years.

@ Jazz Man- If you go to the peaces like us folder, rename the sprites folder to set the hud back to normal. Funny how you have a female anime character’s face with the same voice FX as Gordon! Enjoyable mod, but very challenging. Quick save plenty! But I really appreciate the artwork in this mod, so I say

Can anyone help me get past the area with the giant fans? I’ve knocked out the first fan (the one with the marine and the dying scientist inside), but can’t do anything but die on the second one.
9th October 2007
There’s a vent on the left side of the first fan, leading to the next map.
A walkthrough is now posted.

Thanks, Gilfrarry. I got through it.
The walktrhough is excellent. Thanks again.
And the mod is WONDERFUL. It has very unusual levels–the most creative I’ve played within the Half-Life world. I highly recommend it.

A damn good mod, 5/5. The level design is great and some interesting and varied ideas. The ‘Temple’ you visit is a really cool touch! First played it years ago and just tried it again.

From the looks of it, this is a nice mod, although the character we play is a “Girl”, and the HUD is Japanese but still the best mod. (Maybe the name was “Gordon Freegirl”

Hi there…I played the first one to a certain spot and could see no way to solve it. Then downloaded version 2 and I am stuck in the same place. Maybe someone can help? It’s in the I Don’t Forgive chapter, and you have to jump from one huge turning metal water wheel, into a slot in a second one. I have been on this for 3 days, trying every single position, combination of keys to jump or step forward and I cannot get into the slot on the next wheel. There is a video on Youtube, but it happens so fast you can’t really see any special movement. Any ideas? I have never used noclip. Is that a cheat that would help? Thanks…

Open the console and type sv_cheats 1 save the game then reload that save.Cheats are now enabled.
Type noclip in the console to get up to where you need to go and type it again to exit noclip.

There are a few puzzles here like the rotating machinery, and some weird sequences like a world with ghosts (transparent aliens), it has probably one of the weirdest ‘what if’ scenario’s I’ve seen with the storyline.
You and aliens are all friendly
It takes this concept and actually puts it to practical use, the aliens all help you (even the Gonarchs and Gargs which seem to have their brain’s altered through some device as we see early on), they never attack the humans and instead get imprisoned but they all help you progress by breaking things down ect.
The level design was interesting in that it placed some Xen environments in between lab/industrial areas. And by industrial I mean having catwalks, large machinery which seem to categorize the mod as epic. All these areas look and feel different due to some interesting texture combinations.
It has pretty good length, half an hours worth.
There was one new music track in that other world which was a nice touch to what would have been a drab level without some sort of ambiance.
And the ending was satisfying I think
