Alzheimer’s Disease?

I know it’s hard to remember all the mod throughout the year, but do you best. I was hoping to have some kind of voting system but I could find one I liked, so for this year it’s just a case of posting your answers as comments.

I’ll start things off, I think the most visually stunning piece I remember from a released mod is the bridge at the end of Riot Act. It’s a shame the gameplay wasn’t longer there.

Best Half-Life release of 2007: Escape 2

Best Half-Life 2 release of 2007: MINERVA: Metastasis (complete trilogy)

My scariest moment: Sorry, but in 2007, the modding community has failed to scare me.

My favourite gaming moment: A perfect example: The end of the chapter right before “Pegasus” in MINERVA: Metastasis, [HL2] where Minerva fires the orbital cannon, departing with the words “I’m truly sorry.” I was breathless at that exact moment and a shiver went straight down my spine. Perfect, indeed.

The most visually stunning level: Toss up between Escape 2’s [HL1] war zone level and the mod’s climax plus MINERVA: Metastasis’ [HL2] “Pegasus” levels, with the destroyed Combine architecture. Sorry… can’t choose.

I’m assuming the ‘few other things’ are for mods, not commercial games?

MINERVA: Metastasis is my choice for best mod. It’s the only one with imersive story I can remember, and had incredible level design.

As for a scary mod, I don’t think it’s on this site, but there was a remake of Nightmare House that managed to catch me by suprise. Perhapse not a scare, but it made me jump a couple of times.
