Last night I had this strange dream where I was using the crowbar to flick headcrabs in the air and then bat them like a baseball. It’s not the first HL-related dream I have had either!
The whole thing reminded me of Yeti Sports, and there’s no reason why a HL version couldn’t be made.
Anyway, I have lots of strange dreams and I am unusual in that I remember 90% of them. As a teenager I trained myself to wake up after each one and record them.
Of course, people often dream about the last few things they were doing before they went to bed. I can’t tell you the number of Tetris dreams I’ve had! But in the HL cases I wasn’t playing the game in the last 4 hous before retiring. Weird.
Anybody else dream of HL?
Keep any references to sexy dreams with Alyx to a minimum. I have to admit that I’ve never had that kind of HL dream, pity really!

Yes! I think when I first got the game (HL1) I dreamed of completing the Hazard Course perfectly over and over and getting on the nerves of the scientists there and that holographic woman. Can’t remember what happened in the end, though.
Weird.

isn’t psychology fun now?

i voted yes although i cant remember hl specifically.
– true!
i almost always dream about games that i spend several hours with that day.
when i was preparing for my exams and there were only two games i allowed myself to play with – yes youve guessed i dreamt even about solitaire and minesweeper

Shortly after I started playing (ad getting hooked on) HL1, I remember dreaming about using a crowbar on a headcrab that I discovered lurking in a corner of my closet.
08 March 2009 at 9:24 pm
I have, although I couldn’t say what they were specifically about. Like most dreams, they are forgotten just a few minutes after waking up.

i dreamed that i was sourronded by zombies then had a shotgun and melled them all. for hl1
09 March 2009 at 4:27 am
there you be the poll question: have you ever dream with alyx?
i never have a hl dream but i do with other games
09 March 2009 at 5:18 am
yeah… back when i first started playing HL1 i had i dream i was sitting at my computer playing the hazard course, but no matter how hard i tried… i couldnt jump for some reason. its funny, i had forgotten about that one until just now.
Most of my game dreams involve me not being able to do a crucial action, like shooting, jumping, crouching. always annoys the hell out of me.
09 March 2009 at 12:05 pm
I can only remember one or two dreams, sadly.. I often wondered why I didn’t dream about hl that much, I’ve played it more than any other game
09 March 2009 at 9:53 pm
Wow..Before this poll,i was thinking to make one area that i dreamed!I remember some important details about it i think it would be fun.

I once had a dream where there were multiple test subjects in Aperture. I was one of them.

Had a dream where I was in a huge structure with machinery whiring and whizzing all around me as I was on a moving platform last night. It wasn’t a 100% but the patterns and settings were clearly influenced by the combine designs in the citadel and in Minerva:Metastasis.
I almost forgot it because immediatly after I had this nightmare about being subjected to a drug raid under false pretenses. Strongest, most visceral dream I have had in a while. I almost forgot the first one, the second one was so overpowering.

I was a senior resistance fighter, but I had read a lot of books and watched a few films that deal with a dystopian/utopian vision, but it had a lot of Combine architecture in it. I was leading a band of other rebels around what looked like the Citadel. Not sure what the objective was, but cool none the less.

I had a dream that I was playing Episode 3 just a week or so ago. It was great.
Except it was probably nothing like Ep3 will be. It took place in a bunch of ruined buildings in what looked like a city. I was fighting Combine soldiers that had been re-skinned and looked more like the beta versions. I could also hear GLaDOS making announcements over the city, so maybe these soldiers were actually controlled by her…? Interesting thought, eh?!

That’s an interesting idea. Has anybody suggested the concept of a team-based Portal game?
Oh Dear! I hope you now hide your drugs better than before!
To stay alive for as long as possible, I would think.
That’s a FREAKING AWESOME idea! Somehow GLaDOS managed to transfer her consciousness into a Citadel’s computer and starts to exact revenge on Humanity.
That’s a killer mod/game idea.

Yes! I totally had to get myself involved!
I had a dream where I lead a team of my classmates who were heavily equipped SWAT-like grunts with short assault rifles (G36C, HK416, M4A1) into a train with people being attacked by headcrabs (and zombies). It was midday and the people attacked were also my classmates. I had an HK416 and was the one who went in first immediately shooting some headcrabs and zombies with quick precision and accuracy, glancing at the victims, and leaving the train to let my team finish off the job (there were still some zombies left).
It was kewl. I felt real badass…

Why thank you! I guess I can only claim partial credit though as it was my warped subconscious that came up with most of it!
It’s got me thinking now. Maybe GLaDOS’ AI has somehow been incorporated into the Combine’s Overwatch AI. Remember the Overwatch announcer voice has the same actress as GLaDOS, suggesting that they may indeed be linked. Then again, she is also the announcer in Team Fortress 2 so it may just be meaningless. If Portal is set before HL2 then it might give us some sort of clue as to what has become of her remains.
Anyway, I’m getting way off topic here.

That really is a neat idea and in some bizarre way, it makes complete sense. At least it would make “Still Alive” more ironic.
12 March 2009 at 10:50 pm
I had a HL dream most ricently
)
I was in my appartment and it was croling with headcrabs but they could not jump and I was on the kitchen table weird and scerry (before I got on the table
13 March 2009 at 8:18 pm

14 March 2009 at 4:48 am

14 March 2009 at 6:21 pm

20 March 2009 at 2:56 am
Hell, yes, I’ve dreamt about HL2, not to mention a plethora of other games–I still remember vividly waking my wife up trying to get her to get away because the floating tentacled brains from Duke Nukem 3D were coming thru the ceiling and attacking us in our bed!!
I don’t remember them all, but I’ve done it many times.
20 March 2009 at 1:45 pm
You really wokem you wife up? WOW, that’s pretty funny. She must think you are crazy.
20 March 2009 at 5:43 pm
Have not had a dream yet, but I could imagine having a nightmare of being chased by a horde of Manhacks!
Now that would be frighting.
20 March 2009 at 6:36 pm
I did once dream of running through corridors being chased by fast zombies – that was scary as heck.
26 March 2009 at 12:11 am
Egh, 25 years married.. she’s used to it.
16 April 2009 at 8:57 am
Okay, here’s 3 from last night:
Strider Mountain will be released at 5:00PM tomorrow. (I stress this is just from a dream and I am in way suggesting this is true – in fact I haven’t heard from the SM guys in a while and I am sure they would have told me and I therefore wouldn’t have told you about this part of the dream. Phew.)
I was playing SM and there is a scene where there is a stampede of some animals, fast zombies I think. Hundreds and hundreds of them. Killing everything in the path. I had to block the door of where I was hiding. I also remember thinking that it’s cool that I can use a chair under the door knob in the Source engine.
Later I emerged to find medical personnel tending the wounded. It seemed to be some kind of war against the zombies. Not just a little battle but a full on war.
I got on a train and viewed the carnage and I remember thinking that these were some great level design that I was missing and hoping I got to backtrack.
And the last one was me and Mel washing rusty spoons and talking about how we disagree on many things. In this one there were lots of other things going on, not related to HL.
Weird, huh?

I have. I know I have, but I can’t remember the details of any of them.
