Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

This first chapter takes place in a Portal 2 style setting.

Portal Memories is a mod based on the Portal 2 Mappack. The idea behind this is to make an episodic mod, which you can play as it grows and every new chapter will be based on a whole new theme.

The basic concept is the following:
You start at the main room. Use the portal machines to visit the chambers and gather all the eye balls. Bring them to the main room and open the gate leading to the next chapter.

  1. Phillip says Play It!

I LOVED this chapter, it was almost a Personal Favourite for me. The problem was the of difficulty of puzzle, they were all WAY too easy. For me to say that, must mean they were super easy or I’m getting smarter and or better, which I don’t believe for a second.

Anyway, the textures and stuff are really cool and the general idea is nice too, so I recommend you find some time to play it, but don’t expect head scratching puzzles.

    Play It Later

I think I might have enjoyed this mod more if I hadn’t played Factum Solus first, which also implemented the more elaborate moving platforms and hot laser that seem to have been inspired by Portal 2.

I managed to do the first and last chamber in such a way that I was able to bring the companion cubes back out with me, unfortunately the mod had imposed an invisible wall that kept me from bringing them INTO a different chamber so there’s no real advantage to be gained (unless you want to use the cubes to climb up one of the big portal generator things in order to get onto the walkway that is above where you place the GlaDOS cores. It doesn’t go anywhere useful)

  3. Play It Later

I almost rated this a Play It Now, but I’ll explain later why I didn’t do it.

The thing is, this mod presents a new idea, the idea of getting all the GLaDOS cores and connecting them. That’s new. You don’t see that on a whole of Portal mods- so this obviously got me excited for the rest of the mod. But then, boom, it was over. I understand if you want to release it in episodes, but at least make it longer.

One of the most amazing things about this map is how different the art style is: at least I think it is more open, more free, a great contrast from Portal’s clausthrophobic, trapped feel.

Portal Memories: Chapter 1 – it’s a can of awesomeness, sadly the can is really small.

  4. Hello everyone!
    Skinnycap here.

It’s great to see that ppl like my mod.
I’m sorry that it’s to short, really.
But i will make a new chamber for you guys.
Just one big chamber, that has 4-5 different ways to solove it.
I hope that you will enjoy that idé.
and ofc it will have portal 2 style becose i can see that many ppl like that.

    Cheers!
    Martin ‘Skinnycap’ Johansson.

    Personal Favourite

Nice little portal mod with the under-construction look being rather fun. Plays well and the puzzles are not too hard to solve. A lot of portal mods are far too difficult to solve and I often end up uninstalling them. Endless repartition of a puzzle when trying to solve it can rapidly become tiresome!
    This was fun………
