This is the second chapter and takes place in a central base and a house. Each time you need to collect the “eye balls” the house is in a different state.
Portal Memories is a mod based on the Portal 2 Mappack. The idea behind this is to make an episodic mod, which you can play as it grows and every new chapter will be based on a whole new theme.
The basic concept is the following:
You start at the main room. Use the portal machines to visit the chambers and gather all the eye balls. Bring them to the main room and open the gate leading to the next chapter.

In case you didn’t read the main post, you MUST HAVE Chapter 1 installed BEFORE you can play this. While, we are talking about this, I don’t really like the idea of how Skinnycap has decided to release the chapters. I understand that each download is slightly smaller but I wonder whether it’s worth it.
Anyway, I was less pleased with this chapter as I was with the first. The idea of using the house 5 times is quite nice but ultimately I got bored.
When I play Portal, I want to play in Portal style chambers, not jumping on furniture to reach a spot. That said, it was worth trying and having portals in normal walls makes a change. You may enjoy it, in fact, one Steam friend today me he preferred this chapter to the first, so there you go.
Definitely looking forward to the next chapter but I think I would prefer more complciated puzzles in the same style as chapter 1.

In order to enjoy this map, you must want to fulfill a very simple desire; “I want a portal gun of my own in real life.”
The first situation is pretty simple. Just need to activate a few power sources and find the GlaDOS core. The only thing that gave me trouble is when I didn’t notice the portal gun sitting on the shelf by where you start.
The interest at this point is simply the idea that it’s based on a real life house instead of test chambers and underground research facilities.
The second situation gets rather ridiculous, and incredibly frustrating, but hails back to the good old days of “the floor is lava!” This would have been more fun if I had known where exactly I needed to head to find the GlaDOS core.
The 3rd situation introduces fire to the building. This almost makes itself out to be a way the portal can be used to get around real life dangers. This was marred by 2 issues; 1) I couldn’t see through the flames to tell where I could and couldn’t place the portal, and 2) the amount of fire was utterly destroying my framerate. There were many cases where the flames seemed to just stand still.
The final situation has taken obvious inspiration from Portal 2. Overgrown by foliage, you just need to find your way around things. It seems like almost a let down after the dangers of the 2nd and 3rd situations.
Portal generally works much better in test chamber environments that are much more clearly delineated as to where portals can and can’t be placed, so I can understand why Phillip wasn’t satisfied with this chapter of the mod. Personally I think the “real world” aspect made up for that, but when confronted with the concept that it was all a VR simulation, I was left wondering why the GlaDOS cores didn’t show up in the rooms until after I found them in the VR simulation. I would have liked to see them in each room as you entered, and then had the VR simulation occur before you had a chance to get to it.

As Phillip said, replaying in the same house was a bit lacking in novelty, but I found the different scenarios quite fascinating.
The first one was a puzzle, when I failed to realise I had the DOUBLE portal device!
The flooded house was quite mad, but fun and a little challenging getting to the right angle for those portal shots.
Fire! Wow I loved this! The roaring of the flames was so realistic showing how good sound fx can sell a scene, the idea of being in a raging house fire with a futuristic portal device was so surreal!
“100 years later” has a beautifully crafted look where even the sun shines!
Chapter 2 may be a low challenge to some, but I found it high on interest and fun.
Chapter 3 soon please!
What happens to most 1000=piece jigsaw puzzles?
They are thrown into the back of the cupboard because they are too hard!
