About
“A Short 1 Level demo of the Half Life 2 Modification, Project Omega. There are two ways to complete this game, so when you have played it the normal way, try and find the other route.”
Story
The Combine had built a secret underground base (Omega Base) in the far reaches of Europe in the late 21st century. This Base was used to test the ‘Headcrabs’ and ‘Zombies’ that tried to invade earth. Unfortunately the combine were over run and are now fighting for their lives in their own base. Your mission is to go into the base and sort out the mess. We are trying to get the combine on your side so they do not shoot at you, sadly no luck so far but if this situation continues, they might just want your help. Finally, there have been some rumours about the use of Omega Base; you must not let these rumours get in the way of your mission! As your squad leader I ask you to execute your mission quickly and quietly (if possible). I will keep in touch with you through your mission so stay alert; I will send you details when I get them

Instead of the expected Project Omega appearing in my Games menu, I found HLAF LIFE 2. I clicked on it only to be told I required SDK Base… did I wish to download now?
This is the first time I’ve come across this. What happens next?

Do you have any Scource engine game like Half Life 2 or Left 4 Dead? This is a Mod, not a game on its own.

Okay, I sorted this out quite easily, but I’ll post it here just in case anyone else stumbles over it:
When you choose to install this mod, it auto extracts and installs to your Source Mod folder. The problem lies in the fact that it doesn’t create a folder for itself in the Source Mods folder, so all the bits and pieces that comprise the mod end up rattling around in your Source Mod folder. Steam doesn’t see what the heck it is and posts an HLAF LIFE 2(sic) icon to it.
Solution: Create a new folder in your Source Mods folder, call it Project Omega and make sure everything goes in there. Dead simple, but I thought I’d write this in case anyone new to Steam mods experiences problems.

Thanks for that. Those types of things are really annoying and easy to solve if you think about it. It’s just a pity we have to do it!
I’m glad you posted a comment here becaue it reminds to play this later today or maybe tomorrow.

the video at youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXD6Bq3-EGA shows an outdoor city at the end. Is this even possible from the project omega demo?

I know this is only a demo at the moment, but surely the point of a demo is to get people to want to play the full version.
Maybe I’m missing something but 18 rounds in the pistol, no way to get more and lots of zombies doesn’t make for much fun.

Hey guys, i made this.. 2 a years ago? (omg so long ago!!!)
anyway, i was 14/15 when i started to make it and an i have to say its not great.. an it by no means finished, my computer broke before i got to finish it. There is a level that i was working on that never got released.
Im hoping (when i get a new windows computer, i can re-do the first level an iron out all the bugs (like it only working on XP and the stupid name thing, although i think i did get that sorted in the end…) and then continue with the next levels…
this was just an experiment to see how far i could do. Thank you for playing it an these comment actually have been really useful for me. thanks
