To Install: Simply uncompress d3-sp-shamblers-castle.rar to your Doom3 directory and run D3Quake.bat

The Mod Includes

One Map (roughly 30 minutes of game play)

5 New Quake Monsters

All Quake Weapons with New Sounds (Lightning Gun is included in the mod but not in the map because of broken sounds)

This mod I enjoyed alot, I think it has a bit of Unreal in it! The only problem I had was the sound with the shotgun, its sound was broken a bit on second shot. Other than that a great mod!!

Oh, I’ve been waiting forever for a QUAKE based mod on the DooM3 engine. I’ll definitely check this out once I install DooM3 again.

Sadly it’s short and the music really gets on you nerve (kind of music recommended for speed mapping) but not for this release (my opinion) for the rest, it’s really worth!

Review
The Quake mod with the Doom 3 Radiant editor is an amazing example of how the original Quake would play if re-made today.

Featured in this mod are the original Scrag, Fiend, Vore, Shambler, and even a new boss. This may be one map, but the entire Doom 3 has been re-created with new models, mappings, sounds, monsters, and weapons.

This Quake level is mostly linear as it directs where you need to go next by blocking off old pathways, but you will encounter the same areas multiple times with new available routes to explore. Expect to experience the original dark castles with errie ambiance and traps. Also look forward to using the original nailguns, shotguns, and rocket launcher.

Conclusion
An absolutely amazing mod. I’m a huge fan of the original Quake because I loved the dungeon and castle environments. The weapons were fun to use and the monsters were terrifying. I had some high expectations for this mod because I wanted to play the original Quake with some hefty graphics and special effects. All expectations met! They even went beyond what I imagined.

Negatives
- Only one map.
- Having to re-encounter the same areas of the map.
- Annoying background music that can’t be turned off.

Positives
- Amazing architecture: Arches, stained glass windows, dungeons, rubble, and candles.
- Lots of classic quake monsters and errie environments.

An Abandoned Workshops Syndicated Review

Gameplay:
Very much like Quake, as intended from the team, however ofcourse with modern feel while playing. All the weapons and several enemies such as the Shrag, Fiend and Vore make an appearance within this short but sweet mission. Generally this one is challenging to a good point, considering it’s size so this keeps the length going at an enjoyable pace. The atmospheric hallways and rooms add tension as you explore, in fear of a fiend jumping out at you or a Vore’s attack catching you off guard. Enemies have been developed upon making them much more vicious, especially the Fiend as it will tear you up if cornered, add sense of fear towards the enemies some games seem to lack. Elements are pretty much the same as seen in Quake, such as how the weapons and items rotate above the ground, the keys and some portals which keep the intended game atmosphere in there. Although short there is plenty to come across and try out all the good things from Quake in a more modern engine with plenty of new effects and a new music track to finish it all off, although it does get repetitive.

Design:
As suggested by the title, this one takes place within a castle using a similar style of which is used in Quake but improving the visual design and structure by quite a whole. The castle uses a lot of great structure throughout that remains detailed and realistic, with several curved walls, high and low arches, gates both normal and broken, chains hanging across ceilings and attached to walls, which then add to the gothic theme in each area. Design isn’t too repetitive as it changes in a slight sense when you’re either outside or inside, upstairs or downstairs. Textures obviously help add to the castle’s ambiance, while being quite dark work very well in the locations used, broken walls making the place seem old and worn. Dark blue, night sky lighting fills the exterior locations which help make the lighting bolts feel more in place with its surroundings and adds a sense of cold and calm, while being the opposite. Warm, orange lighting from the torches make the interiors feel atmospheric while venturing through the creepy hallways, so lighting is generally good.

Conclusion:
Short, enjoyable and challenging experience and great design. A must for Quake fans.

This mod was pretty inpressive, you should make a reconversion of quake 1
