Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

A short mod with two separate levels; the first is a very basic shooting range that allows you to try the new weapons etc. The second is just an areaa to run and shoot the zombies with the new weapons. No story but it’s not that important for this.

  1. Phillip says Play It!

It’s a pity that there isn’t an automatic change between the chapters but that’s just one of those things. The first level is very plain but well built and the new weapons seem very good to me, although I’m not a great weapon fan.

The second is almost brilliant. I say almost because it has respawning enemies and that is a shame because if this level were part of a story-led SP mod I would rate it very highly. It’s almost as if the author made a DM map and then adapted it.

I didn’t rate it Play It Now! purely because of the style of mod it is.

  2. Phillip, you did not rank this mod.

    Think Twice

Of course the second map of the mod was brilliant! It was ripped off from HL2!! Deathmatch to be more specific, but I guess that’s not the point…

To be honest, I don’t understand the point of this mod. The weapon’s modelling was rather well done, but the models weren’t designed for the iron sight embedded in the mod. The first map didn’t have its cubemaps built (nerdy complaint, I know), but it still had the cubemaps in the map.

I got bored quickly, and a little insulted because a map was ripped off. I don’t understand the purpose really.

For pretty models and ironsight, but no gameplay whatsoever.

  4. Avoid It!

I didn’t realy care for either map, why? Well the first map there was nothing to do except shoot at targets that don’t move! The second map, a DM map? Too many respawning zombies, very boring! Finaly I got a bunch of zombies to come after me, and blew them (and myself) all up and ended this runaround!! :-(

  5. Play It Now!

Shooting Range is a short mod, not a big mod for Half-Life², he don’t have story.
    Play for fun!

  6. Maybe?

If you want to play with iron sights, play this mod. You can’t use them for the shotgun, though, which was most of the ammo in the second level that I found.

I’ve found I don’t care for them (this isn’t real life, it’s a game–I can prefer cross-hairs). The second map was extremely laggy for me, so I turned on notarget and pretty much just explored.

  7. Think Twice

    So boring.
If I were you, I’d give it miss.

You’re a masochist!?! Go play and enjoy then.
