I am on a Valve roll at the moment! Valve recently introduced Steam Purchase Gifts and, again I applaud them. I haven’t read the fine print but hopefully it’s not too restrictive. I hope to use it when I buy the Orange Box Prize.

However, I am never happy and what I want is to see a Loan feature. I bet everybody who works for Valve loans or gives their friends or colleagues things they buy. Hey, I just finished a great book, take it and read it!. They probably lend people all sorts of things, in fact they probably give people things they don’t want.

Can you image giving away your old tennis racket but having to transfer ownership and pay a small administration fee! Here’s a tip, buy everything separately with a new Steam account and a generic username and password. That way it’s easier to give it away.

I have no doubt that Valve knows when an account is given, sold or loaned because they seem to know quite a lot about our playing habits.

What I am trying to say is the Steam Purchase Gift is a great idea, thank you Valve, but there’s still plenty more you can do.

If this was a school report it would be something like:
“Works hard, but could do better”
