Strider Mountain Team Interview Questions

Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3

Those hard working modders currently building Strider Mountain have agreed to be interviewed. I’ve already sent lots of questions but wanted to offer you, the reader, a chance to add some of your own. I can’t guarantee they will have time to answer all of them but they will do their best.

The team consists of:

I don’t want to sound rude or anything, but shouldn’t these Interview Questions take place after the release of Strider Mountain?
I mean, I’m sure there’s a lot more one could ask the team about the development process and design after actually playing and not just seeing the screenshots and panoramic views.
I do have questions, but I really don’t want them answered before actually playing…

I read somewhere on the site that Loen was quoted has saying this would be his last HL mod. Was he talking for the whole team?

mel that was leon on his own making that statement allthough the others could feel the same way.I think cube and boys could help out another guy who has a mod of in need of modelers etc withsome good lookin stuff but unfinished as of yet.Underside

You don’t sound rude and I partly agree with you.

However, a follow up interview is planned for after the release.

Looks like most people are in agreement with you anyway.

Why is Leon changing engines?

Will he comeback to HL if HL3 gets created and released by Valve?

In regards to the new guns, are they simply re-skinned versions of the Half Life 2 guns or will they be different in some way?

Will there be revolutionary gameplay decisions like those present in CtoA?

How much work does each individual job entail? in other words, what is the workload for each member of the mod team?

I’m sorry i didn’t reply sooner here, but i was the last week so very busy working on the 3th teaser and the mapping of the mod that i hardly had any change of doing something else.
I am very pleased with all the attention for our new project, but i partially also have to agree with that it may be better to ask questions ones you played it. but, like i said, I’m very pleased with this all. Hope you have looked at the 3th teaser by the way, this final teaser shows much more of the mod in general, although it still only shows about 2 to 3 maps.
I’m glad with the remark of CtoA having revolutionary game play decisions, although i have to admit that i am not sure what you mean with it,sorry. This is indeed the final project for me with HL2. i made 30 large sp-maps with HL2 in 3 years or so, and then it starts to get a bit dull. not because the game is, but because i spent working with HL2 for 3 years several hours a day (up to 10 hours sometimes). see it as you played HL2 for that time so long. guess you to would have your stomach full of Hl2 then, hope this expression exist in English, it does in my own languages and means you can’t stand it anymore. Well, that extremely overstated but i guess you know what i mean. And, there are so many good games around now that i would LOVE to map with, that i simply need to go on. But, say never never, right! so, who knows, maybe that i will pick HL mapping up after 2 to 3 years. but for now is it my HL2 adventure, but it seems that the others will keep doing things with HL2, although we will be working together as a modders group on our next project, what probably is a crysis one. but that we will see ones this one is released.

The progress on the mod is fast, the end is near and i can;t wait to release it to hear what you all think of it. And my mistake is always to start with telling a release date, what i nearly always have to delay. So i promised TB that i wouldn;t make this mistake with this mod. What i can say is where we are at this time. I still need to make the half of the last map, what will take about a week or so, i will start with finishing that last map ones i am done with fixing all bugs and errors in the previous maps. This is quit time consuming, but its the little things that need to be done well to make a mod really good. I’m half ways doing so, so,..(i nearly started to tell a date…). all i can say is that i map my but off everyday, and that we are busy with the final stage of finishing the mod. we work like crazy,…and love doing it, lol.

What new game is Leon going to map for like Crysis or some future released 1st person shooter or some other pcgame RPG etc. I hope he does some for Call Of Duty 4 because theirs hardly anything SP wise for it & possiblely maybe maps or mods for Bioshock or Metal Of Honor Airborne.

My 2nd question how many hours of gameplay will be expected in the finished mod.

My 3rd even if Leon Leaves the SM team will the SM team continue to develop more SP releases in the future.

Lastly im really looking forward to playing

Leon - good to see in your comment #13 above that strider mountain is moving along to the finish.

I love Coastline to Atmosphere, and I know your team is making a great new mod.

BTW - We do have expressions in English like yours - stomach full of ___ -

We usually say “belly full of ___” or “I can’t stomach any more of ___”
