  1. Phillip says Play It!

Well, I enjoyed this, I found it challenging puzzle wise, but there were no hard jumps or special timing involved. I would happily play a map like this everyday. Great work.

Recommended for those that enjoyed Portal 2 and want to continue playing with the new mechanics. Let’s hope the author keeps making more.

  2. Play It Now!

A fine map, nothing incredible, but very well designed.

The aesthetics are excellent, fitting the Portal 2 theme perfectly, matching the beginning of the game almost perfectly, while still introducing its own take on the ruined aperture laboratories look and feel.

The puzzles were very well made, a bit on the easy side, but very easy to accomplish once the puzzle had been solved, something that all Portal puzzles should have.

A short map, should only take 15 or so minutes, definitely worth your time.

A good map using most of the new Portal 2 mechanics, although I was hoping for something more challenging than the maps in the Single Player, maybe we’ll get these in future installments. This map was well designed and looked good, especially considering the Portal 2 SDK hasn’t even been released yet!

  4. Play It Now!

Wow, this mapper was quick out of the starting blocks, and the map’s decent quality too. Here’s hoping there are more to come.

My map crashes when I get to the first blue goo tube :( Any fixes for this?

I completely disagree with sharktamer. It’s great and all that omnicoder released a map early, but thats honestly the worst way to do it. It felt as if omnicoder TRIED to detail the environment, and didn’t end up matching any of the aesthetics.

Aside this the time it took to release this map only further indicates it was rushed out the door. Honestly I feel as if this map should have stayed in the oven a little longer. Altogether there are a lot of areas that feel somewhat thought out, while others feel average in others. The consistency overall with detailing, and gameplay flow don’t feel so right either.

Again I understand completely that the finalized SDK isn’t even out yet, but thats no reason to rush maps out the door just to be part of “the first” portal 2 custom map wave.

I monitored this map as the developer updated it on Facepunch. It’s a solid map with good design and puzzles. However, in my own experiences, matching the ‘clean’ look of Portal 2 is quite easy due to the black and white color scheme commonly used. I expect that in the next few weeks we will find many mods/maps with the same level of quality of this fun and play-worthy map.

The way he switches between the art styles of Portal 2 (clean, destroyed, old Aperture) is a bit odd, and it is a bit sloppy in terms of visuals, but the map has some quite clever, albeit very easy, puzzles.

  9. I must agree with MrTwoVideoCards on this, I think it got put out a little to early as the author tried to be first with quality.

That said it’s a good puzzle and it’s worth a try!

I’d love to play a whole campaign of this style =)

    Play It Now!

When I played this, my favorite part was the one shown in the second screenshot. The puzzles were actually fun to solve, which is more than I can say about most Portal 2 custom maps at this point.

  12. I loved this 3 part map. Dont listen to the haters, this was free, and well worth my 20 minutes.

Altho, as far as improvement goes, I did the third part (orange run fast puzzle) without ever using the tunnel lifter. Was this there just a distraction?

  13. Play It Later

This map is good, but is not the BIG portal2 map you’re gonna love it, combines the new elements of P2 well, and is not big, not requires big skills, but the last challenge puzzle in the last chamber can be a little bit tricky, if u don’t have more combat mods to play, try this and it’ll be ok!
