You wake up in a dark alley, not knowing anything. What has happened anyway? You struggle after the truth and answers.

Answers you want to know in the darkness and fear, which makes your heartbeat race like violent blows against your head.

Where do “they” come from? What has happened? Are you just turning insane?

The air is foul and corporate fascism reigns in the not too distant future.

Somewhere in the North American Union you are Myo Hyori, an 18 year-old girl of Korean descent who has had enough. Oh and you can start fires- with your mind.

This makes your corporate owners very nervous…

Almost a decade after the Black Mesa incident, which opened the Portal Storms, you find yourself trying to cope with their aftermath.

Creatures seem to appear from nothing and come without warning. It is during this time that you find yourself in your apartment.

A strange, suited man appeared in your dreams and having no idea what’s going on, all you can do is to try and stay alive.

A story of a modder making a mod sounds a little strange, but that’s what this mod is. However, you spend 95% of your time playing, so don’t worry it’s not just narration or a tutorial.

The mod is about a digger who is looking for an old shelter and on his search stumbles upon a secret base where everything has gone crazy. He soon realizes that he must destroy the base and the strange object that has caused all this trouble.

You find yourself arriving at some sort of Combine facility. You are taken to a room where you are attacked. Next thing you know you wake up in a bin, presumably assumed dead.

Wasting no time, you begin to explore and you find two identical rebel twins who tell you exactly what you need to do, it’s just they tell you in Russian!

As in most mods, you don’t really need to hear what they say, just do what you do best; find and kill Combine. And so, starts your journey to Abyss!

You are Frank Harrison, a rebel, who lives near City 17.

You wake up and find that the Citadel looks like it is about to explode and those scientists are urging you to flee the city.

No need to tell you twice! Off you go and good luck – you’ll need it.

AT 30,000 FEET… you are almost 6 miles (9.7 kilometers) above sea level. The human body is not made for these conditions. Temperatures are can plummet to -60F (-51C), the brain is starved for oxygen and each step is a new experience in pure agony. It’s difficult to breathe. It’s difficult to think. Research and Development is a puzzle-centric mod for Half-Life 2: Episode Two featuring an unarmed player but plenty of violent mayhem.

The player has NO weapons and there is no shooting at all. However that doesn’t mean you can’t kill things, but 95% of the mod is about solving the puzzles that are presented to you in a very natural way.
