DoorVille is the first in a series of 6 mapping competitions lasting ten days each. The objective was to select ANY locked door from HL2, Ep1 or Ep2 and give the player a chance to find out what’s behind it.

Locked doors are a very important part of all Half-Life games. They control the player’s flow through a level.

Sometimes they tease you with a glimpse behind some glass, other times you hear sounds, but in all cases they are telling you “You are not wanted here!”

Well, now that is changed. Dare you find out what’s behind the door?

You must attack a moon base.

Destroy the lasercore, kill the enemies but you MUST keep Barney and the scientist alive!

Then escape, or do you?

Refuge in your apartment is no longer an option.

It’s time to flee. But not quietly out the back, oh no!

Go out with all guns blazing.

Reach the port and you may finally find freedom.

Starting in an apartment building you need to make your way through City 21 until you reach the port.

Of course, along the way you are attacked by numerous Combine enemies.

Your only hope is a fishing boat.

Can you make it there alive?

Author’s Note: Three-Legged Terror occurs as a side story during the events of Half-Life 2:Episode 2. The player assumes the role of a basic Resistance member, hidden away in an isolated mountain base with a small team of soldiers. This base is discovered by the Combine, who send a Strider to destroy the base. Gameplay revolves weakening and damaging the Strider throughout the map as it ascends the mountain trail, giving your NPC allies time to fix weapons and provide aid. The idea was inspired by Capcom’s Monster Hunter series, in particular the Lao-Shan Lung and Shen Gaoren fights. All three maps, mine and Monster Hunter’s, feature a massive enemy that must be weakened and defeated before it destroys the player’s base.

You find yourself on a runaway train. Nothing left to do but work your way to the front – if you can!

Headcrabs and Combine soldiers try to stop you.

You don’t know much at the beginning.

But what you know is: you want to get out and pay them back!

You play as FBI agent Jeremy Hard, who has been sent in to Black Mesa to do something (sorry, but I didn’t pay much attention to the text on the screen).

You have Freeman’s identity card, so everybody thinks you are him.

Go do what you do best – shoot enemies and press buttons!

You play as Thomas Redgrave, a friend of Gordon Freeman, who works in different laboratories of Black Mesa on the same day of the accident.

You are taking a refresher training course when things go wrong. Do your best to survive until you meet some other scientists, who tell you exactly what you need to do.

“The past is far away… The atmosphere of the earth is almost destroyed because of many terrorist chemical experiments. You’ve joined a group.. OBJECTIVE: Shut down or destroy terrorist chemical devices You were sent on a mission to take down the terrorist waste complex. But you were delayed! They put you in prison. The story picks up where The Xeno Project left off.

After fighting your way across Xen and escaping in a rocket, you are captured and imprisoned aboard an Earth vessel full of grunts, lead by the our old friend the Gman.

The terraformation of Xen has begun. The planet now supports a breathable oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere and earth-like gravity. A scientific facility called the Xeno Project has been set up on the planet for continuing research into portal technology. Waking up in a Combine prison laboratory your only choice is to take the HEV and cause as much trouble for the Combine as possible.

Of course, they won’t like it! So expect some opposition.

Get as far away as possible, as quickly as possible.

A new device was developed to stop the alien invasion. That device can disturb transporter signals, so aliens can’t beam in to attack and it is the same for humans. That means no further research in XEN. The Administrator decided to cancel the project, but some scientists blocked all entrances to the Transporter Tesearch labs to continue their work. They finished construction, but were not able to activate it. Your mission is to find that device and activate it. It is located somewhere in the New Mesa Complex. Good luck!

You start in an empty building and soon find yourself in a city.

Explore and find Barney.

Genetic Research Facility is a single player map, which has you fighting your way through a facility intended to create and research life forms that could prove useful in military action.

You play in a room with Barney, Dog, Alyx, Father Grigori, a vortigaunt, a few citizens and the G-man. The room is just a box with a large image of Dr. Breen on the wall and a bunch of zombie trying to kill everything.
