DoorVille is the first in a series of 6 mapping competitions lasting ten days each. The objective was to select ANY locked door from HL2, Ep1 or Ep2 and give the player a chance to find out what’s behind it.

Locked doors are a very important part of all Half-Life games. They control the player’s flow through a level.

Sometimes they tease you with a glimpse behind some glass, other times you hear sounds, but in all cases they are telling you “You are not wanted here!”

Well, now that is changed. Dare you find out what’s behind the door?

Refuge in your apartment is no longer an option.

It’s time to flee. But not quietly out the back, oh no!

Go out with all guns blazing.

Reach the port and you may finally find freedom.

“You woke up in an apartment high-rise building. You don’t remember anything, even your name. You have deep cuts all over your body… you are bleeding heavily.

On the floor and walls is lot of blood, obviously, not only yours. You need to find something to sew up the wounds, and then try to understand why this nightmare is going on…”

This is an ALT mod and as such you don’t have weapons or enemies to fight.

You are along for the ride in a story about love and loss.

It’s in Russian but there are English subtitles.

Starting in a courtyard area, you must work your way through certain parts of the hospital.

It almost seems alive and aware of your presence.

Can you reach the main exit or will you succumb to the horrors that await you.

Only time will tell.

Starting in an apartment building you need to make your way through City 21 until you reach the port.

Of course, along the way you are attacked by numerous Combine enemies.

Your only hope is a fishing boat.

Can you make it there alive?

Take a stroll through Black Mesa, do Dr. Arne Magnusson a favour and then take a ride on the transit system – that is if you can get it working!

But wait! There’s a little detour you have to make before you can continue.

Miigga takes you on another puzzle and action journey.

Timing is important in this map as is your ability to kill and keep moving.

There’s no time to look back and enjoy the view.

You and your squad have been designated as the diversion.

Use your superior crossbow skill to keep your comrades safe.

Starting in an alley with just the gravity gun, you must use the environment to keep moving forward.

Life continues to put obstacles in your way, but with thought and perseverance they can be overcome.

Alyx and Dog await you in the Daylight.

Finding yourself falling through a vent, you need to work your way to a Combine portal.

This will provide the means for your escape.

Don’t rush through, as there are many twists and turns, plus caches to find. Good Luck!

Re-enter the Half Life Universe and revisit City 17 in the time before Freeman, in this fan made single-player mod. The Resistance is threatened by a decisive Combine assault, and as a wanted Resistance member you will need to fight to escape from the Combine’s clutch. Call In takes place a few hours after the citadel was destroyed by Gordon Freeman.

You take the role of a rebel soldier on a mission to retrieve information regarding the super portal to aid in the building of Dr. Magnusson’s rocket.

Enter the mind of Filip Valkas, who lost his parents in the Seven Hour War, and take your revenge on your Combine captors in a new story centred on the Half-Life Universe. Pick up your own crowbar and force your way out of Citizen Containment Zone 19, and lead in the uprising against the alien aggressors.

You find yourself in what looks like a prison but it’s much more industrial than most. Clearly you need to escape and that is easier said than done.

You get to leave the prison and feel the fresh air on your face but not for too long. Keep the faith as you will eventually see the light of day again, but you might wish you hadn’t.

You are disorientated and lost. You regain full awareness in what looks to be a storage room in an apartment block.

Work your way through a variety of environments to find your way to freedom.

This release contains both parts but also allows you to start from the end of part 1. The Combine have destroyed the listening outpost and you managed to escape in to the tunnel, but don’t think you can just drive away, oh no!

You must help your fellow rebels out before you can put your feet up and have a cup of tea.

Plenty of beautiful views and deadly action.
