Author’s Notes from the Design Document

“This level is all about using your tactical strategy to takeout the enemies in a quick and precise manner. Think MacGuyver meets Demolition Man! Some examples are as follows:

  • TNT explosives being used in strategic locations
  • Building shrapnel and nail bombs
  • The military compound gives the feel of cold war Russia
  • The technology unit will be given the science fiction feel like in Demolition Man

“Everything in the map will give way to the cold war Russia look, drab and dark. The idea of confinement and oppression is strong to make the player feel as though he is behind enemy lines and being caught is certain death.”

Installation and use

Copy the .bsp file into your maps folder of your Half-Life 2 installation. Start Half-Life 2 and open the console, type with quotes: “map TheAbsolute.bsp”, press enter and the map will load.
