Single Player First Person Shooter Maps and Mods for Half-Life 1, 2 and Episodes 1, 2 and 3
Author’s Notes

” For this assignment, I was tasked with creating a level using an “out of the box” idea. With that in mind, I created a level where the player is made to feel as though the game were being played from the point of view of Lamarr, the headcrab. Being a headcrab (and a de-toothed one, at that), the player has no direct means of combat and must rely on the environment and some deception to prevail.

The player begins in Dr. Kleiner’s lab just before taking a routine trip to Black Mesa via teleporter. However, Lamarr is once again playing near the teleporter and falls onto the device just as it starts up. Not only does the player get to begin a new life as a headcrab, the teleporter error manages to rematerialize Gordon/Lamarr inside a Nova Prospekt bathroom.”So, the plan is real simple, Gordon. You and Crazy will charge in, grab some guns, and let us out of the cells. Once we’re out, well…we’ll figure it out from there. Talk to Crazy when you’re ready, he’s probably watching the zombies again. Good luck…we’re counting on you.”

  1. Phillip says Maybe

This is a short mod with no combat. That’s the main reason for my giving it a Consider It recommendation image.

I disliked the text on the screen but that’s a general issue I have have with maps and mods not one specifically for this map.

There are a couple of nice touches, llke the steam pipe but overall it’s more of a portfolio piece rather than a playable masterpiece.

  2. Isn’t the headcrab named ‘Lamarr’ and not Larmarr?

  3. Isn’t the headcrab named ‘Lamarr’ and not Larmarr?

DOH! Fixed, except for the filenames, which I’ll do when I get home.

  4. Maybe?

Neat idea but the outcome was a bit disappointing and could’ve been better. Too short and no way to defend yourself, even though I didn’t die once – hell the Combine couldn’t even hit me despite that I’m walking 0.5 mph!

  5. No way am I going to play a HL game has a bloody Headcrab.

  6. Play It Later

    lol great idea

  7. Think Twice

It was ‘okay’. I say that because it was much too short and all you did was run around with barely any point. But it is a good concept, I’d say.

  8. I haven’t played this yet, but I just want to say I think the concept’s hilarious.

Could be developed into something seriously interesting, too… If you played as a non-debeaked headcrab, and you could jump on people’s heads and turn them into zombies that you control… and when they get killed you can walk around as a headcrab again until you find another host… Pretty neat! Jump on a combine’s head and become a zombine… I’d like to see that mod.

  9. Maybe?

Too short, but I suppose that’s good since there’s not much you can do as Lamarr.

Different, kind of fun, worth 5 minutes.

  10. Maybe?

Really worth a shot, but it’s far from polished.
I liked the mirror and the steam parts a lot. And found it funny to play as a headcrab for a change and to end up on a

. But first time I played it, encountered a bug:

Couldn’t figure out what to do in the

    but

    Spoiler Inside SelectShow

. Maybe a bit more light in that area. Also, a long chat line from Alyx flashed by my eyes and skipped to the next, in the last bit.. bit of bad timing. Oh and I could jump and hear footsteps which broke the immersion.
I remember this map/mod as being a big deal when it came out? Maybe I’m mistaken but I expected more so can only rate it a Maybe.
