  1. Phillip says Maybe

It's at least got a start, middle and end, but even those positives don't make up for the lack of interesting gameplay.

There's too much "find a key" for my liking, and it's not scary at all.

The ending is a little unfair and I am sure 99% of you will die the first time.

All in all, one only played if you fancy a 5 minute coffee break.

    Think Twice

This looked marginally better than part 1, but I'm not sure they are both by the same author!

Although it has the same name and semi-visible enemies and some Lego look about it, I'm guessing these two are some kind of student pieces. Both readme's except for the authors names are nearly identical and at the top is –IMUS MODS–, using Google the nearest that makes sense is the University of Seville in Spain.

Just like part 1, overall this is a 1 out of 10 on the fun scale and combat is a couple of headcrabs and zombies. However by the time I got the HEV Suit, health was down to 23 with no other health pick-ups that I could find and only one 9mm clip.
    In the bathroom

Getting the first key isn't that obvious, just crowbar everything and everywhere upstairs and you'll eventually find it, once you've got it you're only a few minutes of play from the finish. At the end, after dying in the cellar I couldn't be bothered to play fair and switched on God mode, but at that stage there's only 15/20 seconds of play left.

I really don't like giving AI's and this one only just misses it.

  3. Avoid It!

I enjoyed the first one, but this one was truly terrible.

I can only think of two positives about the mod, the textures and the fog effect in the basement. This one made an attempt at horror and failed miserably, as well as that there are many areas that aren't obvious as to what to do. I got stuck after getting the HEV and peashooter although I noticed a big red hole at the top of one of the walls but wasn't sure what to do with it, until I read Bolx comment about the crowbar (which I missed) and so restarted the whole mod over. It turns out the crowbar was right next to the pistol, except pointlessly hidden. Then the rest of the mod involves hunting for keys which got boring quick. Then we go to the basement, in which after avoiding the explosions, I got stuck and had to noclip past the vent. There was a ladder which was unclimbable for some reason, I didn't see any point in this. I am interested to know how to get past the vent though, because I spent at least 5 mins of searching and couldn't find anything.

    Avoid It.

This short mod somehow took me more than 2 days to finish.
Yes it's a bit annoying finding the first key since there's nothing intuitive about its hiding place. And the basement full of explosions takes some luck to dodge.

The first time I figured a way out of that manor, I rushed to my car, only to find that puddle outside was a deadly biohazard. Needless to say I didn't make it.

  5. Can't figure out how to get the vent open after the explosion. I tried shooting the headcrab but nothing happens. Any pointers here?

    Maybe?

Also by looking the screenshots I remember I played this ago so I don't have any reason at all to re play it, here I got the feeling that the author was trying to set scary-dark and even mysterious scenarios, but the whole thing it feels more like a map with a central object in which all the gameplay occurs in this case is that eerie mannor we are playing, again the gosths could caus impact on the first modding stuff that was being creating more than 6 years ago, but now I start to think they are kind of silly.

Maybe the author fails again here attempting to create a scary scenario, because this was his 2nd chance to do that but he didn't reach that goal at all, thinkinng that scary could be a goal of course, that's why this job falls from PL to a Maybe rate for me.

    Avoid It!

Somehow this manages to be less worthwhile than The Night Things 1, and I told people to Avoid That as well.

So you have to search in a tiny house for a few keys – as mentioned above the first one is the only tough one to find, just apply crowbar liberally everywhere. But that's all there is to this. You'll come across a couple headcrabs and zombies, but they shouldn't do much to you if you find the weapons quick. Also somehow this was less atmospheric than part 1, and I thought that one was flat.

Skip this one. It was great fun drawing blood with the crowbar from the "ghost" and a skeleton, though.

    Think Twice

First of all, I know that I often write spoilers without mentioning them in my reviews, so live with it or don't read my comments / reviews :P This is the first and probably last time I warn you in advance, meaning this review contains a spoiler, Einstein ;) (It's almost a walkthrough!)

If honestly, as I saw the little intro cutscene I thought: WOW! That looks great, maybe part 2 is indeed way better than the 1st part. Well, somehow it is, but somehow it's not!

Gordon is send in to Woodstock Manor after people seem to disappear there – that's the story.
So you start immediately outside, going directly in and check out what's happening here.
First of all every room is locked, so you need to find 3 keys for the bathroom, bedroom and the basement, easier said that done.
After finally getting into the basement, you wonder what to do there after killing two zombies.
The answer is simple, blow the mansion up! By shooting the.. ehm, machinery I'd say.
But quicksave before, as several explosions occur and you're most likely to die if you're at the wrong spot. This said, the only thing left to do is get out via the now open vent shaft and get back to your car. Game over!

    Pro's:
-Again good mapping, great lighting but odd, illogical design (breaking wall, separate room with only a tiny window to see inside) – at least a few new prefabs, sounds
    -A few puzzles
    -Creepy atmosphere, music
    -Good balanced but less combat

    Con's:
    -Very short
-Illogical puzzles (who'd hide keys THERE and why??)
-Explosions kill you almost every time – unfair
    -Less combat
    -Odd story
-No HEV at start (watch out for headcrabs)
-Bugs (graphics, trigger: sometimes vent wasn't open after the explosion —> stuck)
    -Disappointing end

  9. Play It Later

Just like the original, imo. Just okay.

The game starts in a place named Woodstock Manor where Freeman is sent to see what is happening. If something really bad is going on there, then Freeman must explode that place. That's the plot. Seriously.

There is less combat in this than the first one but where the first was tiring, this one is filled with stupid, illogical puzzles. Also, I noticed that you don't start with the HEV suit. So it's not like the first one.

After you find the HEV suit that's in a closet (what?), you try to open every door you see in front of you. Though, they all need a key. A bathroom key, a basement key and a bedroom key are the things you must find. The first one is really hard to find. You just hit everything with the crowbar, and nothing else. The placements of the keys are really dumb. The second key can only be reached by climbing the bed!

Though, the worst thing that this mod has to offer is the basement. You need to hit every metal thing you find, but when you do, you will encounter the absolute WORST avoid-the-explosion moment ever. You need to run in corners and act like an idiot. I bet you will die the first time you get there.

But the mod is not really bad, hell I enjoyed it. There were a few things that I really liked. First of all, I like how the mansion looks from the outside. Also, the atmosphere was creepy in this one, unlike the first. Also, the fog effects on the basement are great.

Overall, I don't hate this mod. I quite enjoyed it. Though, just like the first one, it could have been much better.
