The Prophecy: One will be called the Freeman One will be called the Gman One will bring chaos The destroyer of Worlds One brings balance The saviour of our race Cautious you actions The prophecy is at hand Transitions is the place in-between Half Life & Half Life2, exploring the possibilities of what went on during this time. The player (Gordon) is running through the Black Mesa facility and into the Xen world bringing destruction with him. Exploring the possibilities of what went on during this time, the Vortigaunt are still unaware as to who is who (good or bad, the prophecy), Freeman or Gman. The Vortigaunt perceive Freeman (Gordon) as the destroyer of worlds and the Gman as the saviour. Until they realise that Gordon ‘is’ the saviour they will continue to battle against him until they find the truth. Transitions will enable Gordon, along with the Vortigaunt to establish, truly ‘who’ is ‘who’. The scene takes place where Half-Life left off; you are on a train in some strange…

I can’t believe I missed this release. It’s a very good mod that had me struggling at the beginning until I realized what I was supposed to do.
Considering I hate Xen from Half-Life 1, I actually wasn’t too worried about it this time.
Gameplay was balanced, design pretty simple (But that’s Xen, not the designers) and the action intense at times.
My only gripe was the rather limp ending. All in all worth a play.
Five Word Review
Xen plus Vortigaunts equal trouble.

How short…or long is this mod for 136MB??? Looking for something longer then 30-60 minutes play time. Screen shots says short mod.
Thanks

You might get 30 minutes of of it but I doubt it. I didn’t add lots of screenshots because the levels don’t really have enough variations to make it worthwhile.

Cool, a Xen mod for Half Life 2 that actually looks good! Playing now!

I’ll skip
Thanks.

I got more than 30 but maybe I play different. It’s been along time since I played it but it wasn’t short.

Just downloaded and looking forward to playing this one.

A long opening cut-scene, infinitely re-spawning enemies, insufficient ammo and extremely repetitive level design make this, for me, a very unrewarding experience. Infinitely re-spawning enemies should be against the law
19th November 2008
Unplayable without cheating and above all ….. boring.
19th November 2008
Wow, I am actually quite disappointed with this mod, for all the reasons mentioned above. Too bad.

I got realy tired of jumping on the launching pads, trying to find a way out!! No replay for me!

Since this is the first mod I’ve seen having the player revisit Xen, which I liked from the original game and both expansion packs, on the Source engine I imagined something quite cool. However instead it was just some abysmal and shockingly tedious mod with zero variation and terrible gameplay. Continuously respawing enemies is just a big no-no. The ending didn’t make any sense at all either.
Textures and models looked like they were ripped straight out of Half-Life resulting in some very lo-res textures.
Disappointing.

The overall look of this is real good. Brilliant colors on Xen, but I just don’t like killing the Vorts and there was a big lack of ammo. The rock hopping gets old and I just prefer more down to Earth HLmods. It’s a good game for some ,just not for me.

You work too much phillip cause you didn’t miss it just forgot to test it

While Adam greatly improved his skills from his ntr0py mod I found this a bit to difficult at the end becuse of the constant respawn.Still it is worth playing..

andyb, I cant find this game in my menu after installing. I auto installed first which put the game in Steam somewhere. I dont play HL1 mods through steam only WON so re-installed to the C:/Sierria/Half-Life but the game does not show in the WON menu either. What folder do I install to?
21st November 2008
It’s a HL2 mod so it wont work on HL1.For steam it goes in the source mod folder \Steam\steamapps\SourceMods

True that, It’s pretty much a cheep way to make a game harder

It’s an age thing andyb, life sucks when you get old.

LoL Don’t I know it!

Way too tough for me, though I have to say it’s about time someone re-did Xen in HL2. (Well done!)
The balance of situations & enemies could be better thought out I think, we’re not all hard-core players after all. Some of us just like looking at the scenery, and having to think a bit, as well as pumping lead…….Rewarding though that can be…..
Thank goodness for “sv_cheats” is all I can say!
Will have another go before rating, but I might be on my own in wanting a bit more HL2 Xen……..I do hope not though….

One way I found that would make it easier for players is to stand in those healing pools while the Vortigaunts zap you. Of course it might depend much on difficulty but, at least on easy, the pools should regenerate the health faster than what the Vorts can take from you even though there’s a group of them zapping you at the same time.
22nd November 2008
That’s the way I did it. I didn’t cheat and found it quite easy to do it this way. In fact one of the reasons I gave it a Play It Now! recommendation was because I felt this added a minor gameplay mechanic.
23rd November 2008
in the beginning dont jump through the portal. choose the other path.
if ya like standing in a healing pond and killing lots of voldergaunts then this is your mod. was fun and the old and new textures was kinda neat.

Very interesting mod which I enjoyed, just wish I knew more about mapping such that could appreciated and understand the work that goes into a mod like this. Although it’s a HL2 take-off of HL1 Xen it’s still an original concept which must have required all new set design work, I thought the whole mod was wonderfully crafted giving that unique Xen atmosphere with a touch of the mystic.
From a gameplay point of view it was a bit limited and if you took full advantage of the health pools not that difficult to complete, still well worth a play through.

That was pretty bad…

I keep getting “could not load library client” error I have tried adding Game sourcetest to the gametext file and I can only choose video test?? How can I get this MOD to work. My computer is a HP Pavillion dv9220us notebook nvidia GeForce Go 7600 graphics inside. I only have trouble with MOD games. Any comments or
5th December 2008
Look for a bin folder in the mod folder. If there isn’t create one and add the client dll and server dll from your Half life 2/HL2 folder into it and try.
Also make sure you got the latest SDK in case thats the problem also make sure the SteamAppId is 220 and ToolsAppId is 211
6th December 2008
added the .dll files, tried SteamAppId to 220 but it wouldn’t show up in steam replaced with 215 and got it to load , it goes through the intro scene but when I jump through the portal it says “to continue this path load HL2 and HL2 ep1″??I don’t understand? I have HL2 ep1 &2 loaded on my computer but not HL2. Is this a problem? thanks in advance for your help.
6th December 2008
Don’t jump through the portal. Stay inside the tram and wait. This mods tries to offer one possible storyline for Gordon if he chose to not accept the Gman’s offer.
Expect a freaking tough time unless you use the energy pools.
Good Luck!
6th December 2008
You can do as Phillip says(if it works without HL2) or buy HL2.I know the episodes are independant but HL2 is HL2 and this is a HL2 mod so I have no idea how that would work.Register to the forum and keep your eye on free games like HL2 that people give away.

after cut scene it says to play through half life 2 and Ep 1 which i have done. it wouldnt work after that point. I also had to put it into my x86 section manually because of vista 64-bit. Maybe its just not compatible anyone know?
15th February 2009
commenter 33 see comment 24 regarding the beginning.
I don’t know if it’s not compatible but if you got the opening sequence then I presume it is.
