About

UnderHell is a mod inspired by the magnificent Monolith production named F.E.A.R. it takes a dark and spooky universe, with a totally different story. Our goal is to offer to the player a great gaming experience.

It’s inspired by all those games that we love, and that marked the video game industry, such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil, F.E.A.R and some great horror movies such as The Grudge or Dawn Of The Dead.

The story is sick and twisted, but kept secret for now, there will be cinematic scenes with screenplay as good as movies, and hallucinations!

There will be a single player mod but in the future, there might be a multiplayer version full of firefights or zombie modes, and a new game type named LASERQUEST!

UnderHell is being developed under the Source Engine, using the SMOD technology and will be released when it’s done

This looks absolutely terrifying!
It’s good that developers take time to create an atmosphere rather than just throw in a group of zombies.

I agree, one of those trailers is excellent. Definitely the best trailer I have seen for a mod in a long, long time.

Great interview. They seem to have some interesting & inventive ideas going on. The “no hud” sounds primo and I hope they can pull it off for the right effect. It also sounds like it will be hard.

It’s nice to see how much they enjoy the creativity of making something fun & still be humble. I can’t wait to play it!

i heard about this one on CDG.net a while back. ever sense watching the trailer with one of NIN’s best instrumentals eva, i was hooked.

i personally am stoked to see this one progress and come to completion.

Yes! Finally another singleplayer Half-Life 2 mod to be excited about other than Black Mesa!

Hope they are inspired by Condemned: Criminal Origins too, I love that game.

Hey guys !

I have some more answers for you :

Berntsen : Yes, we are inspired by condemned, yet it was not cited, because it is not one of the greatest inspiration in there.

The thing we are taking from condemned, is the melee, the first part of the mod will be melee focused, all you will have will be your fists, then you will find a cleaver, then some other melee weapons, until you find the first pistol.

We are not in a war shooter here, you won’t have all weapons at the begining, but when you start having weapons, you’ll have to be carefull on your ammo, remember you won’t be able to bring more than 8 guns on you, depending on the weight they are

trailer 1 was kind of goofy, but the atmosphere was conveyed well.
trailer 2 looks like SP in MP levels…but fun! music is great as well.
I stopped watching trailer 3 1/4 of the way through because I didn’t want to spoil any of the game..

fscking execelent looking mod, I can’t wait to play it.

Don’t worry about getting spoiled, the map seen in trailer 3, is only the house of the protagonist, and the events happening in trailer 3 were mapped specially for the video, it is just a preview of what will be available in the game, yet let me say this :

Every horror scenes will be random, there will be one chance on two that each scene will play, which means, sometimes you will see something, and sometimes not, to see all of the mod, you’ll have to finish it a few times

Hello zeroth404, first, tell your friends that we did not “steal” the models from fpsbanana…

We borrowed them, we haven’t said anywhere that we had created the model, and we take no credit for it, look at the credits :

Then, so you understand better, we asked permission, or are asking permission for the use of the models, as said in the interview, why making a new Mp5, when there are already a hundred available, besides the fact that the models are cited on our website, makes people download the models from the authors, it’s positive for them, if they give permission to us :

That was explained in the interview.

I’ve always wanted to see (figuratively ) something like that, in games like F.E.A.R the nature of the scares made having everything scripted seem like a bit of a missed opportunity. I wandered how it would work if some of the (non-story essential) scares would go if they had been randomised somewhat so every player had a slightly different experience.

It would be even better if some sightings could be made completely random (like having a very small random chance of having a shadow move at the side of your FOV every so often while exploring). Of course that’s probably out of the scope of a Mod.

This looks like it will be interesting.

I like anything that has replay value and having different endings etc is a good way to do that if not the only way.

i think this eyElessSchism needs to shut up about stuff they know nothing about.

MXTHE promptly asked for permission for every model that is being use in this mod, which in this day and age is merely a act of good will and appreciation to the artist who put in the effort to create the work.
as a matter of fact, although fpsbanana is getting better at removing ill-begotten content, it has a nasty reputation of members that “hack” other people’s work and post the chop job, without the original content’s author’s permission.

as said, mxthe has not stolen a thing. i, we, the artists behind the great content you see out there on CDG and FPSbanana and the like, really appreciate it when someone like mxthe
takes the time to not only seek permission for our work but give credit were credit is due.

with all this said, please, no more insults directed to mxthe and their team

Please let’s have no more talk about credits and focus on the mod itself. I will consider deleting any more credit talk.

I just got done watch all 3 trailers, I love these scary ones!! The scarier the better! The meat clever and the grenade launcher good additions. Kinda reminds me of F.E.A.R. in a way, I expected Alma to jump out at me!! I’ll be looking forward to this one!

am glad you say that trailer 3’s map was specialy made for this trailer. because otherwise many of the effects will not be seen by the player. like those lights going out, even with a trigger_look such effects sometimes just don’t work.
other then that, i liked the trailers and am interested to see the final version of this new sp-mod.

About the map 3, it was, yes, in part created for the trailer, the house will be used, as the house of the player.

As for the second trailer, it is, not really mp, but deathmatch test, and weapon, and ennemy ai test, how they react, move, and everything that has to do with combat, zombies have recently been added to the map, and I can tell you, it’s cool…

The mp is NON confirmed at the moment, we are focused on the sp

It’s likely several of the better CS:S weapon models you see in the second video will not be granted permission of use to this mod.

The scene at CDG nowadays can be pretty ambivalent, and many of the better weapon-modders there don’t want their work appearing anywhere outside the original CS:S release.

So I hope the developers for this mod will end up respecting the original creators wishes, when that comes to pass.

As you can see, we got many permissions, this is not the first time people calls us thieves and bugglers…But we are not…We are asking permissions…

If you are the author of one of the weapons used, and you do not want us to use it, fine, we’ll take it off, but if you agree to let us use it, all credits will be given, and a link to your weapon will be posted on our website, so more people can see it…

yeah you shouldnt just accuse them of this stuff, have a little faith in this. It looks really tight IMO and I cant wait to kill some zombies and or soldiers. Just hurry and get some maps
