Another Doom/Quake style, no story, room-to-room map from Ritosito. The first 3 maps can be found here: Zay 1, 2 and 3. There is one jumping puzzle that is nicely done and plenty of action.

Another simple map from ritosito with gameplay as the centre feature rather than visual. This map will not appeal to all HL2 players, especially those that want something with more depth. The author doesn’t make any claims as to this map, so no complaining. It’s an indoor action map. No story, no hidden secrets (At least I couln’t find any, unless you count the….Find out for yourself!)
If you have 5 minutes free and want something simple and non-commital then this is for you.
OH!, by the way the ending is pretty good too. I didn’t include screenshots for thius to keep the surprise.
- Not enough secret places/ things.
- Could do with a few more unexpected enemies above and below you.
- It’s nice and Linear.
As I said in my comments on Zay 1, 2 and 3 I generally dislike this kinds of maps but ritosito seems to being able to make fun maps that don’t need stories. All the maps are indoors and offer nothing new in design etc, but that only adds to the fun. There’s no eye candy to distract you. You could almost play with the same texture throughout and still enjopy them.
Another fun map to enjoy.

I played the other Zays. Well done here too but….so what? They lack the freshness of Doom 1.666 (not to mention the great tunes) and a good story becomes gradually mandatory when one evolves from psycho-fragger to aging beatnick.

It’s a tiny file but manages to pack in quite a bit of gameplay. And like Phillip said, the ending is great. Cheers, Ritosito!

Short, simple, plain, fun. The suprise at the end worked very well. Its different, and I find that refreshing.

This was fun. Very short. Looking forward to playing the first 3 at some point. The last enemy was a hoot.

A PIL but a must play.
If you are looking for HL2 eyecandy, you’re not going to get it.
If you are looking for some excellent hard combat, You are going to get it.
Whoa there me hearties!
I thoroughly recommend you play Zay 1, 2 and 3 first.
Phillip has a link at the top of the page.
Download all 4, stick them in your HL2 maps folder and play them in sequence.
You won’t regret it.
Simple, glorious, combat game play
