I found a mod currently in production called Zeitgeist and the author has deemd it lower priority than some other MP projects (Shame on you!). He is looking for a modeller and coder, and perhaps some other skills.

So, if you are talented, interested in art deco / film noir / 1930s settings, have some free time and would like to work on a project that is a little different from the usual Half-Life 2 release then this could be a perfect opportunity.

Here are some basic details:

The story around the mod plays between the 1930s and 1940s of a different time line – the Russian revolution failed, the czar is still in control and so are the other european monarchs. World War 1 continued until 1922 – sixteen years before the story begins.

The changed time line allows to let the (conspiracy-) story around a reporter & a secret service agent play in various big cities like London, Vienna, Berlin, New York, Paris and Prague without logical twists.

Zeppelins are common means of transport, the metropoles are still intact since there was no World War 2, some have a very modern touch to them (the skyscrapers in my Stuttgart screenshots actually looked like that in 1932, neon lights included ) and the entire game will be visualized in a de-saturated, sepia like style showing all Athe luxury and creativity of the pre-war times.

Maybe a bit like a mixture of Indiana Jones, James Bond and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen…
