We kept it simple...
There are two basic ways to use MapTap.
The first way is to download a map file from the website to your computer and open MapTap, if you have multiple Steam accounts make sure you are using the correct one, and click the install button. Then, navigate to the location you saved the file and select it, either by double clicking the file or by clicking once, then by clicking the OPEN button. It will then install.
It is also possible to drag the file onto, either Maptap's shortcut icon or the application itself and the file will install.
If you have MapTap installed, you can install maps directly from the website. Go to a map on the site and look for the special graphic under the heading MapTap Users. Clicking this link will initiate your browser asking you if it is okay to launch MapTap (you can tell your browser not to ask again) and MapTap will start and install the map automatically. Please be patient as the file has to download first.
Please note, this link has to be added manually to each map, so currently only the newest maps have them. Eventually, ALL maps will have them.
It is also possible to drag the file onto, either Maptap's shortcut icon or the application itself and the file will install.
Here is a video tour of MapTap. It's a slightly earlier version of the release version but everything discussed is the same.
Here is a list of frequently asked questions. Please read them before sending a support email, as they may solve your issue immediately.
Simply download the installer and execute it. You will need to have administrator priviledges when installing the software, in order to enjoy the full set of features that MapTap has to offer.
Absolutely. Just remember that the maps installed on one computer will only be available for that computer.
Absolutely. Just remember that the maps installed on one account will only be available for that account. This is especially important if you drag files onto MapTap's icon. They will install to the last opened account.
MapTap has its own update feature. Each time you start MapTap it will check for updates and download them if available. At the next startup, MapTap will install the update for you.
However, if for some reason it doesn't, you can download the latest update from the Updates section and install it manually.
If for some reason you have problems with a map, you can report the downloaded archive. Just select the map in the list of installed maps and then press the 'Report' button. Phillip gets to see which archives have been reported.
It is worth noting that none of your personal details are sent, just the file name. Therefore, nobody will contact you to say the file has been fixed.
If you want to say updated regarding archive fixes, please subscribe to the site updates RSS feed or follow PlanetPhillip on Twitter.
